Some crazy wildfires burning in San Diego county today. Started yesterday afternoon and got worse over night:

My folks live in Poway which borders Ramona where the whole city of 36,000 had to evacuate. Yesterday it was 2 fires that turned into 7 overnight.

Rosslyn

wow, that sucks!

Caohmin

Yeah, my parents are nervous and are packed and ready to go. I don't think they'll need to evacuate but I'm hanging out with them just in case.

Caohmin

Guess I was wrong! We just got the call to evacuate.

Nari

Good luck with that.  I can sympathize having evacuated several times for hurricanes.

several years ago a friend of mine (yes, I have at least one) went out west to help out his folks during a wildfire.  his days basically consisted of frequently hosing down their roof, yard, etc. because the wind was blowing embers from the fire all over the place from pretty far away so it was always a risk to just have your house go up in flames even though the fireline was down the road a ways.

Good luck, I hope everything works out well for you guys.

p.s. was there a run on marshmallows at the local Wal-Mart?  ;)

Sent my folks to my sister's house in LA. I'm camping out at Shanghi's house. Of course, I can't work in this emergency situation so Shanghi and I are getting drunk and playing cards.

I saved my golf clubs and my new computer. My neckties can burn!

I don't think you guys know but Edeossa works as the Director of Emergency Services for the Idaho Chapter of the Red Cross.

She's extremely busy today because of the fires.  Coordinating all the idaho volunteers that are going to there for the shelters they are opening and sending down their Emergency Response Vehicle.

When you and your parents are allowed back and if your homes were damaged make sure to call your local Red Cross.  They can help you with your Immediate Emergency Disaster Caused Needs.  Tell your friends.

Caohmin

Thanks for the info, Tydd. The fires are still burning but they are allowing people back in. It's still really smokey and my folks are staying at my sister's for one more day.

Tydd

Good.  If you and your parents do decide to contact the Red Cross make sure to do it as soon as you decide you need them help.  The funds are there for your Immediate needs.  She's had people contact them 2 weeks after a house fire asking for help.  She had to tell them she couldn't help and give them some ideas of who they can contact.   The funds are designated for your immediate needs and if you wait to long then your needs aren't immediate.  :D

But here's to hoping you guys don't need to contact them.

Rosslyn

I've been contacting Edeossa while Tydd's at work for my own immediate needs...

Tydd

You're going to have some serious Immediate needs here soon bitch.

Rosslyn

Tydd

Hey Ross.

You playing TF2?

Rosslyn

i haven't picked it up yet, but I've been giving it some thought.  In a pretty busy time at work lately, and that'll probably continue until maybe December.  By then I'll pick something new up, possibly TF2.  just not enough time to play it these days.
