Full list of changes here

Most Noteable is the belt change:
Name: Superior Accursed Belt of Might
Effect 1: 17 Strength
Effect 2: 6 Crush Resist
Effect 3: 6 Slash Resist
Effect 4: 6 Body Resist
Utility: 47.3333320617676

Infernal Black Diamond Ring got +6 Str/Con

None of this really matters to me because I did my SC planning already, but if you are doing another suit or happened to be under the caps by a few points, this might help.

Noreen

geez wtfs the deal with mythic.... u can now buy a 47.3 utility belt for seals...bleh the ogre's might belt is only 49.3 utility and a tad harder to get....they're gonna have to raise the cap on stats / skills / resists / etc. soon cause everybodys gonna be capped

Zutroy

"everybodys gonna be capped"

I think that's the point. If everyone's the same it's easier to balance.

Kirin

soon theyll be selling buffbots

Lifesbane

4 diamonds for the Accursed Boffbot of Uberness

Noreen

the easier it is to essentially have the ultimate character the less it emphasizes the roleplaying side of things and the more it promotes the game as being simply a quake type first person action game.   Not to mention the fact that by doing stuff like this they essentially nerf their own content eliminating the desire for anybody to go there.  Why do the Ogre's Might quest now, which takes 40 or 50 people and a few hours when you can goto DF and just buy an almost equivilent belt?  Just seems silly to me <shrug>

Mchagen

Who wants to do the ogre's might quest in the first place... I'll never do it because it's lame, even if it had a better reward.

Noreen

i thought it was neat.  although my favorite quest is the restoring the magic one where you have to kill the cabalist in the tower in dales of dewvy.   Thats exactly my point, who's gonna want to do the ogre's might quest now after an almost equivilent item is available at the DF merchants.   it did have a decent reward, now its subpar for the huge amount of work it takes to organize and complete a 50 person raid.

Mchagen

Oh well.  If the quest is too hard and too long people won't do it, that's the bottom line.  I like the new changes to items.  If you want to complain about everyone being able to cap out, why not complain about sc'ing and sidi items.  That's what changed the game.

Noreen

you're missing the point.  remember back when the game first came out... ellyl / ravenclan / teg loot was the best stuff u could get.  then they itemized barrows, which subsequently emptied the xp groups from the frontier mob spawns.  Then they itemized lyonesse and emptied everybody from barrows, next added and itemized dartmoor emptying lyonesse.   so it was high time to take another look at llyn barfog... hmm lets add some epic mob encounters and put uber loot there.   Next they put lv 50 epic armors in and eliminate any reason to goto llyn barfog..... I could go on but I think you can see where i'm going with this.

your logic's something akin to dont worry about shooting yourself in the foot, you got another one.   It appears to be mythics development mantra as well.  They've been doing the equivilent for 2 years now.

I agree  with you on this Noreen :P I have Amerasu on the last step of the Ogres might which I think is actually quite good fun though very difficult to do. Specially given it never happens when I regularly  play. However its worth is certainly diminished if you can buy the same thing. Though Im not sure having a better balance in RvR would hurt equipment wise.

They really need to do things to make all zones worth hunting  in, perhaps items which drop for spell crafting/alchemy or to give special efffects to armour or weapons, components which will go towards either questing for a exceptional items but need to be collected from several zones or give you special appearance/decorations for your toon.

Zutroy

Here's what I came up with in 2 minutes of thinking about this, take your pick:

No one was using DF seals to buy (usable) loot any more. In order to curve the diamond seal trade, mythic decided to change the stats on the jewelry so people would actually buy stuff with them. This prevents more money from being created in the economy via hinging.

This could be a precursor to them re-implementing the diminishing stat bonuses over +75 system they were screwing around with about 6 months ago. By making the ability to cap your stats easier, more players would be able to take advantage of that new system.

The upcoming changes to the resist system may require players to have capped resists to be competitive in RvR (even moreso than now). Mythic may also increase the max resist level if diminishing returns are put in.

In order to be more noob friendly with the rerolls and new players that come when TOA launches, this makes it easier for players to obtain good gear.

Quests in DAoC suck. Mythic knows how stupid the "run here, talk to this person or kill this creature" quests are and didn't want to have to subject everyone to that just to get good jewelry.

Noreen

yea it does help people want to spend seals on something other than an item they're salvaging to hinge. Now they just gotta make the durability on these belts be about....i'd say 2 or 3 and we'd have something approaching a seal/money sink...dont think it's gonna work too well considering the essentially nonexistant "damn my <insert item name here> wore out and has 0% durability.  i need to get a new one."  just doesn't seem well thought out.  but if they could make seals be needed for something on a more regular basis and alot of em that might help slow down the hinging economy <shrug>
Yea alot of the quests in daoc suck, but ogre's might wasn't one of them.  that and the cabalist restoring the magic, and the bracer quest are the only ones i really enjoyed doing.
I guess all i'm really trying to say is that mythic's retarded.  things like this destroy time and effort they've put into itemizing zones and designing encounters / quests.  DF sure didn't need more reason to go there.  after this krondon dungeons sure gonna :(

> blah blah seal economy blah

This doesn't make sense because all that will happen is people will spend their 18 seals on a new belt, maybe another 20 or 40 on some other piece of jewelry, and then go right back to hinging. The problem isn't with people who do 20 seals a week, it's the people doing 500 seals a week.

I think they just looked at the items and realized that it was behind the curve in terms of the SI random items and other quest items in the game, and decided to improve them. Like everything else with a total redesign, there were some anomolies that players picked up on in about two seconds and will exploit.
