It does have a lot of good things but there is some pretty bad stuff too. Of my top 5 toons those I considered to be most in need of help ie armsmen and wizard both got nerfed. Those I was very happy with Cleric, sorcerer and minstrel all got boosts.  Someone at Mythic really doesnt seem to know what is going on. I mean did necros really need a boost?? Im happy for all necros but boy there were a lot of classes needed help much more dramatically than they did. I dont understand the way Respecs have been handed out either since some classes with disastrous changes got nothing while others who got boosted got a respec.

Given the prevalence of GT AOE, Mushrooms and  the ilk In the other realms I think the new keep changes could be fairly disasrous for Albion.

Not 100% sure but it looked awefully like all the Midi tanks got damage output boosts also. There is a lot in this but my overall impression in terms of realm balance is that we might find ourselves behind the 8 ball again.

well i wouldnt say wizzies got nerfed...the AE DD in the fire line got taken down to 3 sec casting time from 4...yes VP's radius went from 700 ---> 500, but thats still big, and it is an overpowered RA.

i think the necro love was justified...why get items for your necro if there not gunna do anything?

Bolldar Bloodaxe

I wasn't saying that there was anything wrong with the necro boosts, I think they were things they should have had, but necros are powerful in any case and I wouldnt have put it as a priority over other classes. Amberryl summed it up nicely, she didn't say they became Uber but uberer!.

I think that the RA reduction on VP was a big nerf, its a one hit thing and should do a lot, wizards have precious little else going for them and needed help. They compare very poorly to almost all other equivalent classes in other realms. The casting reduction on the fire AOE  is accross the board for those types of spells and while nice isnt really going to help to much since Fire wizards generally rely on bolts. In fact the top bolt is the one and only thing a fire wizard has over other realm equivalents other than VP. In all other respecs DD AOEs etc are no better than other realm casters and they give up many utility spells for a supposed but non existant advantage in damage dealing.

A blue con pet with 0 melee resists and no bonuses from player items.  How did they not need a boost...

Only reason why necros didn't drop quicker than pure casters before was because you got an extra hit after you dropped out of shade form.

I guess playing a character to 50 makes you understand it better. :)

While I have got a necro its admittedly low level, tho it still kicks butt even then. The most powerful characters i have seen PvE are necros, I dont think anyone would argue this. The most powerful character I have seen RvR was a necro, I know some people will argue that but I have witnessed a necro take on 6 characters (he was soul survivor, rest of us were dead) and very nearly won, he killed 4 of the 6 (they were 50s) before a stealther backstabbed him. So Im afraid I dont believe they were in any way shape or form weak. Having said that I still dont have a problem with the fixes they got but still believe other classes deserved attention before or at least at the same time.

Zutroy

Necros have sucked in RvR ever since the patch when they put in LoS for pets.

hmm ok this may have been before that though I cant see how LOS could have effected it since they were all in melee with her. Whats the problem with the LOS?

Sodom

Basically, Deatsight necros (before the patch, I doubt you'd find any other kind) *were* uber in PvE. It wasn't so much damage output of general utility, but the fact that they have spells that "tap" to refill both of their expendable resources: life and mana. In this manner, they're about as "uber" as Paladins.

Yeah, that uber.

Zutroy

Necros could kill people inside (or outside) keeps or lord rooms without any risk since the pet didn't need LoS to cast its spells. Before this was "fixed" necros could easily clear out the entire defense force before the doors even dropped.

IIRC, necro pets still suffer from the blue-con penalty regarding enemy spells; meaning they take something like 1.5X (?) the normal damage from spells that a level 50 player with no resists would.

Mchagen

Zut and Sod hit it on the nail. ;)

How's swg going Zut?  I've talked to a few that came back from it telling me there's nothing to do end-game.  So they didn't like it.  Maybe their space expansion will bring out some renewed interest.

K I understand the resist penalty and they prob should get either a yellow pet to combat that or higher resists for there pets (prob higher resists would do since from what I have seen they kick butt in a melee in any case. I disagree totally with the  damage output bit though, I see necros carve through mobs in PvE all the time quicker than any other class can and with out stopping. And as i sure in RvR in a mellee situation  they kick butt too. I would never compare the damage output of a pali to a necro they are streets apart. It sounds like the LOS fix was needed tho, wish Hibbies got same for some of there pets.

Sodom

I never said Pally damage comapres with Necro damage, that's crazy-talk. However, I'll bet you a RvR group without a Pally or a Necro is more likely to invite the Pally first ;)

It does balance out, somewhat. Pallys are great in groups, Necros are kick-ass farmers/pwrlevels... but if you ask any player which is the more fun activity (grouping/group-RvR or solo-farming/pwrleveling), I think we both know what answer we'll get.

Necros may not have needed a power boost, but they defitiely needed a playability boost to allow their players to enjoy all facets of the game.

heh yeah I agree with that I find them kind of boring to play :) even tho you can pull non stop.
