If you still have D2 on you computer, you can download the patch by logging into b.net. Here's the complete list of changes:

http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=mdt0763p

Highlights:

* New Ladder characters that are only playable in special b.net ladder games with increased difficulty.
* Nightmare and Hell difficulty are alot harder.
* Low level skills now have synergy bonuses to high level skills.
* XP penalties at level 70+
* 100 new unique items, new rune words and cube recipies.

* XP penalties at level 70+

Yeah, that's going to keep people playing after what, over four/five years.  The patch sounds lame, not that I'd ever go back, I broke my d2 cd a long time ago.

That game became crap when they screwed up all the character classes, and the expansion classes were icing on the cake since they sucked so much.  Let alone all the hacks in the game.

That's why I don't get people putting up so much hype about blizzard games.  Lately, I haven't been impressed and WoW looks like crap.  They need to hire a new graphics design team at the very least.

Still, got to give them credit for putting all that work into a free patch. I still play the single player version from time to time.
