Sucks! I was really looking forward to this one based on the early information we got. Received this email today.

Dragon Empires newsletter - 3rd September

It is with much regret that we have today announced that we have now ceased further development of Dragon Empires due to technical issues we have recently experienced with the game.

This of course is extremely sad news for everyone concerned with the game. For regular visitors of our forums, these will remain active for the foreseeable future to give you the opportunity to give your feedback and keep in touch with your fellow Dragon Empires community members.

We are still very much committed to entering the MMORPG market and are currently evaluating other potential opportunities, keep your eyes and ears open for news in the not too distant future.

Thank you again for all your loyalty and support over the previous years and we only wish we could have rewarded your passion and enthusiasm with the final game.

Best Wishes,

The Dragon Empires Team

what was the difference between that game and horizons?

DE was pvp centric, closer to shadowbane than hz. But if you mean they were both sucky games that I wanted us to play, then I guess not much difference.

"technical issues"? Not financial issues? Wonder what that means.

Rosslyn

I think technical issues means the servers perform poorly when the electricity gets shut off for nonpayment.  That's just a guess though.

Nah, it means they had developed it for three years, took a hard look at what they had, saw it couldn't compete with the next generation MMORPGs (or even current gen ones) and decided it wasn't worth putting out a niche product a la Horizons, that would have 10% of the playerbase needed to sustain itself.

imo.

DE was in development for like 10 years right?
