Axecleaver

Next weekend is a guild wars preview event. I played this during E3 when they had their 3-day preview and it was pretty fun, but I never found the pvp which is the center of the game apparently. So if anybody wants to try it with me next weekend, here's the client download

Sodom

Looks very Diablo-y. I'm not sure how busy I'll be that weekend, but I'll try to check it out.

Siddhartha

I'll be there - making ....gasp... a ranger :-\

Axecleaver

Game on! I set it to d/l the patches before I left today, plan to hit it tonight and see how it goes. Will be making an Axecleaver (of course).

Lifesbane

i played for a little while today, its pretty cool. graphics are really nice too.

i made a monk/warrior (by accident actually) and played him through the newb training thing (which wasnt painfully bad, like many are). then i made a necromancer/menser and played that for a while. both the combos i tried seemed to work well. was pretty fun.

Zutroy

I made an elementalist/necro named Zu Troy, dunno wtf I'm doing though. How do you use dyes?

Axecleaver

Double click dye and then click it on your armor. It made my armor purple in the inventory but it was the same color to everyone else, lol.

Going through a mission now with this pickup group, pretty fun. I noticed there's many copies of a zone (districts) so unless we are all in the same one we will never run into each other.

Zutroy

what's your exact name there? I'll add you to my friends list and see if we can hook up for a mission or 2.

Axecleaver

Axecleaver. I haven't figured out how to find people there really. I did some pvp, it's random 4 man teams going 4v4. The first few times I just ported in and got instantly ganked, because I had to d/l the map. Then I got a team that was halfway decent and we won 3 in a row before I went linkdead.

The pvp is ok I guess, haven't really figured much of it out yet.

Zutroy

Here's a few things I figured out today:

- NPC group members steal loot and money so you're better off either grouping with real people or taking only the minimum of what you think you'll need. I was able to duo pretty much everything on my elementist with an NPC monk.

- Buy loot kits and salvage everything you get that you can't use. Once you have a stack of 10, go to the craft supply seller and sell it for some extra money. If you can come up with a stack of 10 cloth, hide, or scales you can get around 150g. Everything else goes for between 10-60g for a stack.

- The craft supply seller refreshes his loot every minute or so. If you continuously click on him, he'll eventually have what you want - just have to be quick on the drag-drop-click or else someone else will get it first. This was the only way I could get the cloth I needed to craft a new set of armor, it was kind of frustrating.

- For PvP, the only thing I learned is pets > all. I had an awesome group that won like 15 in a row until we got owned by 3 rangers with their level 19 uber pets. I'm thinking that probably needs some tweaking before launch.

Overall, fun game but I can see myself losing interest pretty fast. I like the idea of putting in an actual story arch that you can play through - it makes it feel less like you're grinding. But eventually I can see it becoming like D2 where you just repeat the same area over and over.

Oh, and watch out for the invincible healer boss mobs.

Axe - what's your last name? You can only search for people by their full names'.

Axecleaver

I started a new guy, warrior/necro. Debuffs stuff then hits it. Seems to work OK. Axecleaverr OIseult

Siddhartha

The final word was -guildwars sucked

Axecleaver

Pretty much. It seemed to appeal to a different kind of player than we would tend to want to associate with imo.

Siddhartha

Unless you are really into 12 year olds.

Sod?

Sodom

No man, I'm the guy that's into mothers of 12-year-olds. You're thinking of Ross.
