holy lateral when his knee was on the ground!

I was pulling for Texas though, it's about time.

Zutroy

The texas db picked off that pass that was ruled incomplete and USC ended up scoring a TD on that drive, so I guess that sort of balanced it out.

Rosslyn

oh man, I thought the replay overturned that one and gave it to texas...

Yazid

There was another one: the one where the guy fell on his back.

The amazing pick that I thought was a sure touchdown for USC was ruled incomplete and turned over in Texas's favor.

USC got some, at least what I thought to be, incredible spots of the ball in their favor.

Also, even with the late lateral, is there any doubt Vince would've scored anyway after you've seen the way he took over the game in the end? He wasn't going to lose :p

I know LenDale White got all the credit, but I think I could have run those dive plays behind that Matui guy or whatever. He was throwing Rodrique Wright around like nothing, and Wright is a bad mofo.

Just random thoughts about the game mostly, I am still in complete awe of Vince Young... I knew he could do it, I've watched them all year. Very few athletes though can take a game over like that in those circumstances. Thank God for DVRing the game.

I think VY needs to declare this year. He's from houston, so there's a good chance they'll pick him #1 overall this year. David Carr (current houston QB) is owed a huge roster bonus on Jun 1st, so they'll probably be looking for a new QB anyway . The only advantage to staying another year for VY is to win the heisman, but there's always a chance he'll get hurt or better passing QBs (like brady quinn) will emerge and drop his value in the '07 draft.

Yazid

Even without a Heisman, he outperformed the last two Heisman winners head-to-head. He might stay out of loyalty (behind VY was Nordgren (fifth year Senior, gone) and Colt McCoy (freshman) and the chance of repeating. I'm torn between wanting to see him win a Heisman and Texas repeating... and wanting to see him in the NFL. :x

Zutroy

I just think the situation sets itself up so perfectly for VY with houston having the #1 pick. If Leinart had declared last year, like he should have, he'd still be in california and he'd have the largest contract ever given to a rookie (alex smith got around $60 million). Now, Lienart is probably going to be drafted by the Saints and have to deal with all the crap they're going through.

Is it really worth one more year of college ball if you have to spend the bulk of your pro career in some place like Cleveland or Arizona?

Yazid

Well a lot of people (including myself) figure that Houston is going to nab Reggie, and stick with Carr. That'd set up New Orleans to pick Leinart or Young, and Tennessee to scoop up the other. Tennessee I wouldn't mind, but VY in NO would make me sad (and also an instant Saints fan).

Now if the Cowboys traded up into the top three....

Kirin

sorry i dotn follow college basketball

Yazid

welp looks like VY declared.

Cowboys trade two 1sts and 2nd round pick to NO for second overall pick...

Zutroy

well houston needs a new RB as badly as they need a new QB; that is to say, that don't really need either one. If the texans were doing what's best for the team in the long-term, they'd trade their #1 pick to some other team in the top 10 for a whole bunch of picks then grab the best OL in the draft.

anyway, I doubt parcells would ever trade up in the first round; in fact, I'm not sure if he ever has in his entire career as a head coach.

Yazid

Yeah, I'd say the upgrade from Dom Davis to Reggie Bush is about the same as Carr to VY. But Bush gives them a playmaker who can line up at receiver, returner, or running back. At the same time, however, those offensive line woes are alleviated with a quarterback that can scramble as well as Vince can. You rush too hard on him, a lane opens and he busts a 20 yard run on you. Whoever the new head coach is, though, will pick Bush. He's the consensus can't-miss guy, and trading down or grabbing VY would immediately put him maybe not on a hot seat but at least a warm one if the exchange did not lead to immediate improvement.

While Parcells might not have ever traded up, he usually has more personnel control. Jerry Jones has more control over the team than I'd like to think, I'd bet, and maybe he wants to give big to get big with VY. He could sit for a half season to a year behind Bledsoe then we could shift gears and get that big play, consistent QB we'd need, 'quirky delivery' or not.

Axecleaver

OTOH, Parcells has a history of recruiting strong OL and building the team around that. He certainly did that with the Patriots when Beldsoe QB'd there. I haven't really followed his contract or anything, so he doesn't have a say in the draft? I'm surprised to hear that.

Yazid

He does have a say in the draft, but he's not completely in control over the Cowboys like he has been in the past, I believe. I forget the exact wording, but when they brought him in, they said something like him and Jerry Jones would decide personnel decisions equally, or together, or something.
