Great fun tonight in the raid to take the Crimthainn Keep in Briefine held by the Middies. This raid was lead by Vengeance and had key pariticipation by it's members.  The Keep was defended by the Middies and a tough battle was waged before Albion came away with the victory.  Kidshealer was in charge of making sure that all Albions were rezzed upon death and did a terrrfiic job of making that happen.   Great job Kids!!!  Gueuze was second in command of the raid but also for organizing  the Seige equipment.  Again a great job of pulling that all together by Gueuze.  Kidshealer also. always seems to have seige equipment available when ya need it.    Funny how that works(we appreciate ya Kidshealer) and Gueuze came thru (as always with his Siege euipment) and  organized a last  minute effort(when it looked like we might lose) to come up with a Ram when we really needed it at the 11th hour of the raid.  Asherah was in charge of yelling out when guards popped and did a fine job there too,  Thanx Asherah!  You are fantastic!!  Zutroy was there killing  archers and providing rp kills, scouting and long range firepower.    and Camlache was there to provide offensive fire power and other support services that we needed.  The Raid was tough and there was a lot of opposition from the Middies.  There were  quite a few other Albions there too fighting. It could have gone either way but the Hearts of Albion came thru and we prevailed in the end.
Was a lot of fun and if I didn't mentiion your contributions--just scream; 'Bloody Murder" and we will get it right!!

You did a great job as leader Reinn, I was surprised that we were able to take it considering how well it was defended but thanks to good leadership we prevailed.

As usual I missed all the festivities... /cry. Way to go Vengeance... sounds like we had our stuff together out there and made a great impact.

Kirin

I talked to Kid a little bit this morning about the raid. Curious to know how you approached the lord room retake when the doors came down, from a leadership role. I find this part of the raid the most difficult.

Reinn

Just prior to the second door coming down, I had all forces assemble at that door.  They were instructed to charge the Lord as soon as the door came down and to ignore archers, courtyard defenders, etc.  As soon as the door came down, the order was issued for all to charge the Lord room.  This in effect negated the courtyard defenders and NPC archers inside plus caught the Lord room defenders off guard.  In other words press the attack to the heart of the Keep and ignore damage affects from defenders on the walls and in courtyard.  This strategy takes advantage of the tendency of some to move to the Lord room irregardless of orders to the contrary and to waste an armies time picking off guards, etc that ultimately are nothing more than a minor irritation but tend to create a delay that is much more damaging to the goal of killing the Lord then anything else.  In other words, The army needs to be prepared to move as a unit to the Lords room the instance the last door comes down.  The charge needs to be lead by the Army leader to reduce the hesitation and to help ensure that the group moves together.  The Leader should be the first to the Lord room and most likely will be the first to die but as others follow in the battle will be fought with your full force which will make a difference.  At that point Leadership takes a backseat anyway and the battle must play out.  Anyway prior to the Raid a second in command is named.  That person takes command in the event that the Raid Leader goes LD or dies.  Last night that was Gueuze.

I've tried the lord room zerg rush in the past, got mezzed and summarily cut to pieces by the wall archers. But I guess this is the easiest to do since everyone is more likely to follow this order than if you clear the walls first.

I think what helped us when we rushed the Lord was people lagging and not getting up the srairs that fast :)

Seriously though. I rushed with everyone else but got caught on the stairs in a few places. When i got to the top with a group of people i think we took a few defenders by surprise. Of course a troll saw me and whacked me real quick :(

I think When we break through the doors we should have everyone rush the lord room but have half go up and then the other half go up right afetrwards ( just a few seconds delay) That way the defenders have fired off their Mez and stuns on first group and while they are trying to kill them the second group arrives and causes total chaos :)

Gueuze

I certainly had a great time, and enjoyed the experience I got.  It's hard to get much done with non-Vengeance members if you haven't built a reputation yet, but that will come.  I'm hoping to hit 40 this weekend and then start RvR-ing a bit more (just a bit, xp still wanted as well) so I can gain experience and be more effective as a leader, and help other Vengeance members when their turn comes.  Sorry to have to leave right after the take, but I had a prior engagement.  Sure, my shining moment, and I finally develop a life.

It was even more fun because it was defended, and by some heavy hitters too.  Echoic, Armored, Ispi were there, can't remember others.  Side effect:  nice rp's outta those guys.

It dawned on me later...we should have claimed it.  We had 9 there, I believe, albeit in different groups.  'Course LB was one of them, and he was dead between the walls...

Can't wait til next time.  Must buy more siege!

Oh yeah, Axe and Kirin, you would have loved it, there would have been no shortage of sweet heals on the doors...4 clerics I think?

Great work by all.

Kid

Yeah tons of fun , and by the way I replenished my supply of seige today so I am back up to 2 full rams in vault with 600 ironwood.

Rosslyn

Three rams in Rosslyn's vault, so please send a tell to Ross or Pheuneral if you're planning a raid.

Kirin

/em sobs quietly ;_;

Nari

You guys rock.  I'm jealous as hell that I can't be around to do raids.  Man, I'm ready for this tour to be over...

Lifesbane

BLOODY MURDER! (;p)
i repaired the ram ;p.....

anyway, it was funny because when i was repairing the ram, i got about 400 wood dumped on me....then, as soon as the door goes down everybody charges to the lord room (which i believe was the plan...) leaving my flimsy lil' scout holding about 3 times his enc. weight. so im standing inbetween the doors unable to move and an archer targets me, so i go melee and put on engage, hoping i can buy a little time. Just as Gueuze gets to me to take some wood, i go down (thanks for the effert G :)). not too much longer our forces take the keep and the doors shut around me, and despite our rezzers best attempts they cant taget me and im locked in :)

anyway, it was prolly a lot funnyer to me then it is all of you...guess you just had to be there...and be me ;p

Durandana

Yeah it was kinda funny LB, you was dead between the doors, but your legs where sticking out the front side> Iy looked like the doors slammed down and cut you in half :(

It was all fun though, too bad we couldnt rez you :(
