Kirin

It doesnt really matter which version of Ywain you transfer to, its mostly just for housing.

If you gotta piack a number, do number 5. That's where ill be sticking the guild house

BTW, super handy tool right here:

http://daocchatfixer.burec.net/

It lets you copy and transfer a character's UI settings to another character or server... nice not to have to reset quickbars/chatboxes for each toon your transferring. I kind of wanted to punch whoever designed the website, but the program worked.

Caohmin

Someone give us an update!

How's the new server? What's the population, pve, pvp like?

Dargoh

Population is about 2.5K a night on the new server
RvR is about half of this people and PvE the other half
So far the realms are ballanced in numbers.

PS: by the way i got us Guild house but waiting for Kirin to get in to give him the title so he can put all the stuff  that he got from the old one.

Interview with Mythic's Jeff Hickman

"...Overall Jeff's presentation was a good one. It was afterwards though that I got the chance to pressure him about Dark Age of Camelot. Many players remember DAOC as having the best PvP experience in the online game space. It is often referenced as the prime model for PvP, oddly enough no one has captured its format again. The key to DAOC was that three factions, Albion, Midgard, and Hibernia were all fighting it out for control. Mythic put in some expansions that sadly diluted the experience over time. Trials of Atlantis and New Frontiers were two that many people say did the game in. When Jeff asked me if I would like to go back to DAOC the way it was in the beginning I got excited.

It is great when an Executive Producer says, what would you do with Dark Age of Camelot? Well I explained that maybe a sequel would be the way to go. Or perhaps revamp the game with an updated engine, new graphics and art, and keep the world in its old form with game play very close to the way people remember it. Jeff smiled, smirked is more like it, for a very long time. Jeff said that they are hiring right now on the Dark Age of Camelot team. We can only hope DAOC will see a rejuvenation back to its old awesome PvP self."

Subtle hints about them revamping daoc, or possibly even a sequel. I hope they dont change the core mechanics too much...having been playing it again, the older-style mechanics (interrupts, larger group size, every class cant do everything, etc) and the three realms (with different classes!) are what really made it shine in a lot of ways.

DaoC 2 would be pretty sweet...but that would be years away at best, and it looks like they are still trying to save WAR anyway.

Mchagen

They won't let War die but it's already dead.  I think they have six active US servers left and its been out just over a year.

DAoC was going strong several years after its release. It was after ToA when servers started to see small dips in population.

DAoC2 is what they should have developed instead of Warhammercraft.  What a crying shame..

Axecleaver

Warhammer should have incorporated some of the core design elements of DAOC - certainly a lot of folks were expecting that to happen, and it didn't.

From playing as a healer, in my mind the game would have been a lot different with a few small changes, such as the cast-lag bug (I believe this was a design choice, worked fine at release) and rebalancing healing to make it important. They were always trying to suggest that healing isn't fun so they wanted to make healing a secondary effect of doing damage or CC or something, and the implementation didn't really work.

Zutroy

I think I just got really tired of losing PvP instances 95% of the time.

Gueuze

So really...it was nearly 9 years ago I met you guys?

Suprised nobody has posted any of the gossipy tell-all blogs that have hit the 'net lately:

EALouse - Why Warhammer failed

interesting read.. I just wanted to share with you all a recurring experience whenever i tune pianos- I usually shut my eyes in order to focus on beat speeds, and whenever I tune fourths inverted with fifths, (if that makes any sense,) I'm constantly subjected to visuals of the south black mountains north of Camelot... Maybe it's because that Humberton fort had that specific bagpipe music, or maybe it's just the acid that must still be in my system...

In any case it's interesting that I can still remember almost every detail about the original Albion frontier, more specifically the south black mountains.. I also remember having a dream that I was on that weird bridge some years ago!
