RvR on Iseult

Seems like every night I check the Iseult boards on ign, I see posts about how large the mid zerg has grown and how poorly alb is doing. But really, how bad are things now?

When I left, alb was down but not totally out of it. We could usually get a few good groups running around emain but we never really dominated. I even heard rumors in /gu that things were starting to turn around.

I guess my question is, is it worth my time to level my sorcerer to 50? I'd hate to spend all that time on her just to find out RvR here now consists of running to m1, dieing to 50 mids then porting back.

I think it's as bad as people say it is, even though I haven't been out there.  Heck, even while I was still actively playing, I'd go out in emain and groups of albs would just sit at the pk because the moment they ran out, there'd be a group of mids/hibs chasing them down.

Who's to say it'll stay this way though, servers change a lot.  I remember when the mids were almost a non-entity on this server and it was all albs/hibs.  Then the mids shot up, then the hibs countered again, now it's all mid.  I've noticed similar trends on several servers, but most of them don't favor the albs.

I'm willing to bet if we didn't have echoic on this server, mids wouldn't be where they are today in population and overall confidence.  Look at lancelot, mistwraith and his KOS team go on hiatus and the mids shoot up and the albs regain some as well.

Morale is a huge factor in this game, it's too bad mythic didn't realize how much it would affect the sway of their original implementation and design based on predicted player preference in the long term

I made 30k on Monday night. It all revolves around your ability to get a good group. We got to roam emain for a while and bloodgated out to hit odin's for a keep take, ninja'd hlid from the hibs, went to DF, killed 80 mids in an hour before dying to the midzerg. We went 222 kills and 46 deaths on the night, of which 16 were bloodgates.

In terms of straight-up guild groups we seem to suffer from some timing issues. Lots of people playing at different times and all that. It's tough for the people who get on at 6p to wait around for the 8p and 10p folks.

If you're talking about just straight-up emain zerg, yeah, mids generally have 3x - 5x our number out. But I've found rvr to be more fun lately and a lot more competitive than it was a couple of months ago.

I was in a fun group that was part of 2 or 3 Alb groups in Emain yesterday (thx Mattee!).  We actually cleaned up on the hibs and mids we ran over.  If I recall correctly, I think that nobody in our group died over the course of 4 or 5 decent encounters, some of which involved the enemy having greater numbers.  Of course, we had a sorc, a minstrel, two clerics (well, one Rez Ho and one cleric, LOL), and various others to make a pretty balanced alb group.  That was probably the most competetive RvR I've experienced in some time.  I know I'm not the most active RvR person, but still, it's been a while since I've been in a group that roamed with that kind of confidence.

Mattee

I have had great groups the last few days. We really kicked some booty. I keep hearing how we stink but I am just not seeing it.

Mattee

Bah, I wasn't done....

Ross, you shouldn't let people know you are a Rez Ho!!

I am making my groups lately and making sure they are well balanced. The most important thing (to me after the well balanced part) in RvR is having a group willing to work together and support each other. IF you think you are going to fail then you know what you set yourself up to fail. What fun is that? And my groups, well, they don't jump down each others throat when one messes up by not afing fast enough, or /cough BoF when maybe you didn't really need to. We go out, we have fun, we communicate and just have a great time.

And Pheun you are one of the clerics I always look for to RvR with me - I think you do a splendid job covering healing, rezzing, talking it up. You really just kick booty out there and I love grouping with you.

Glad to hear you guys are still out there having fun. I'm probably gonna wait till next patch to begin leveling again (I have to try out the new BG exp medals) so if you wanna consider my sorc as part of the twink squad, I'll do that for now.

thx mattee  :)

I had to laugh remembering one specific incident in our group yesterday:  one of our tanks, and armsman I think, was getting beaten on by a hib.  I was standing right next to them, and I continuously healed the armsman while the hib (two feet away from me) continued to beat on him.  I fully expected the entire time that the hib would turn and beat me down, but it never happened.  LOL  He just stood there and watched me wave my arms, watched our tank get healed, and died fat, happy, and stupid.  :)

"...died fat, happy, and stupid."

Nah, too easy.
