The Washington Zoo has a pair of pandas they've been trying to mate. They pay $1 million a year to China to rent the pandas, and have to return them at the end of their lease (ten years, I think).

Quote from today's paper that shows how much like people pandas are:

"National Zoo pandas get along well, compared with some instances where a male panda woiuld just as soon kill a female as mate with her."
