Online players of FPS games end up dividing into small, isolated populations with the majority returning to single player mode to compensate for the fact that 5% of the overall player base wins 90% of the time and nobody likes consistently losing.

That's pretty perceptive. Wow promised a matchmaking service pre-launch but never implemented it. I'll grant you that anything like this is subject to being gamed, but that mechanic sounds pretty cool.

The game itself seems to focus heavily on pvp and template tuning, and very little on gear acquisition/grinding. Sounds neat. Go-live is reported as "2007" so figure they're shooting for Xmas 07... quite a ways off.
