Four quarters of utter domination by a clearly superior team... somehow foiled by a team who finds a way to win no matter how outclassed they are. My god, what a game.

I have not seen a secondary shut down a passing game so completely in... well, pretty much ever. Even when Brady had time to throw he had nowhere to go. They got tons of pressure on the QB all game. They even got three picks, and still lost.

And poor Marty. Maybe he'll get to the big show someday.

Rosslyn

lol, that was pretty unreal... especially the pick that turned into a first down for the Pats.  wtf?

I still think the biggest bonehead play was going for it on 4th and long from around the 30 when you've got a pro bowl kicker... give the Bolts those 3 points and the headlines look a little different today.

Caohmin

Definately some bonehead plays on the Charger's part. That int that was fumbled and the punt that was dropped along with the unecessary roughness penalty hurt them. Got to hand it to the Patriots, they never gave up and drove and score when they had to.

Hopefully they will stay healthy for another run next year.

Lifesbane

yea, pats definetly didnt deserve to win that one. good game though.

That int/fumble/first down, I was like "wait, what?" Thank god for Tivo.

In the first quarter the announcers suggested they didn't kick the FG because the wind was against them at about 12mph. And with the momentum of the game being what it was, I could kind of understand. I mean, they were dominating both sides of the ball up to that point, their run game was on track, and so they figured why not take a shot?

Rosslyn

my thinking was because it was like 4th and 6 or so and you're going against the Pats defense, which doesn't suck.  I don't know, I just can't see passing up a definitely reachable field goal there.  Sure, there's wind, but you have one of the best kickers in the league... and it's under 50 yards.  Most of these guys can boot them over 60 (blocking a low-trajectory kick notwithstanding).  It's a no-brainer if it's 4th and 1 or 2 with L.T. and Neal.  But 4th and long?   Marty needs to lay off the sauce before games I think.  I think he took a quick nip off the flask right before he threw that challenge flag and wasted their 2nd timeout too.

god damn it... not another f'ing colts/pats "brady vs. manning" game. I think I'll just Tivo it and watch with the sound turned down.

if you'd like to get into the playoff spirit this week, download my tedy bruschi wallpaper I made last season:

it features the greatest moments of bruschi's miraculous career.

Good article by Bill Simmons about the pats and the upcoming game

"Really, you're a football fan and you're not interested in seeing whether the Colts can upend their long-time nemesis and finally make a Super Bowl? That's not cutting it for you?"

No, that story line is so 2004. Brady may not have the huge numbers, but he's clearly more clutch than Manning - that has already been established.

If the Colts win, what I just wrote above will still be true. It doesn't matter if Manning and Brady play in 10 more playoff games and the Colts win them all - that perception will never change. That's why no one (outside of Boston and the Manning family) really cares about the game.
