I dont know how many of you read the posts on the vault boards, but lately it seemd like tons of our high level folks are leaving us. From many guilds. And it doesnt seem to be just for a vacation it is for good. I just find it very worrisome. The last few days hardly anybody been on and group XP'ing. And RvR has gone down the toilet. Is the server dying here?

Gueuze

I think for the large part, yes, a lot of them are bored and leaving.  Not just bored, but tired of seeing Mythic change the entire game as they did with the last patch.  There might be a resurgence when respec is implemented.

The question becomes...will the up and coming 50's fill their shoes, or leave as well?

Lifesbane

idunno, im sick of mythics "balencing" thats is completely changing the game around. big LB has again been semi-retired (that is i dont play him anymore, eccept in guildgroups or RvR sometimes), and im playing my wizard mostly now.

i know im looking at other games, specificly MMORPGs cuz i had a lot of fun with this one, and im probably going to be moving on sometime soon.

just my imput...

MMORPGs run in cycles. In the beginning, something hooks you. Content, graphics, something new. Gameplay. After a few hours, if the game is good, it hooks you with the character development. You want to level and advance. Over the course of this process you form friendships. The final phase is community. This is the most critical part of the game cycle. If community hooks the player, it can keep them forever.

Or so the theory goes. The problem is, we can move our community. The part of the game I treasure the most is the guild community we've developed here.

I'm personally not giving up yet... but it looks like there are a lot of old school Albions leaving for other games. I agree it doesn't look like the old defections to other servers. We lost some to Mordred -- Midgard especially. But for the most part this seems to be defections for other games.

A lot of the fun disappeared with this patch. I'm not sure how else to describe what happened. But it seems like there are less people out grouping and fighting. I read a half dozen "i quit" messages a day on IGN.

Just from Vengeance, this patch we lost:

Darith (bored)
Glanowyn (not with us long, but -- bored)
Rush (RL issues but -- also sick of balance problems)

I'm probably missing some folks, too.

I'm willing to give Mythic til next patch to see if some of the balance problems come back into line. It seems that with one patch they just removed all the fun out of the game. And all the spellcraft and playerhousing isn't going to fix the RvR problems they created.

I did have a lot of fun twinking the other night, though.

Regardless of our fate in DaoC, I want everyone to stay in touch on the boards so we can get together again in the next great game(s).

Gueuze

I, too, want to see this bunch stick together.  We're a great group, with friendly and skilled people.  I'm still dedicated to Gueuze, but I've been playing Hib Bors as well for a diversion, and I'm anticipating SWG.  So that's my plan.  Hope to see you guys plenty more in the future.

Next game, not so weird...but how freaky will it be if we carry over into a 3rd game?

Lifesbane

i know id love to bring vengeance to other games, hehe i think the guild is what has kept me in DAoC for this long.

also, if i move to another game i dont intend to cancel my DAoC accounts, so if mythic un-breaks some stuff ill be right back there to play :)  ...again, thats IF i decide to move on

Speaking of other games.

Kinda puts me in a bind. Asheron's Call 2 will be coming out probably by Christmas. I was asked by my old guild leader from Hibernia on Palo server if i wanted to join her and her husband when it comes out. I told her i would. But i would also continue to play this game too.

I know we would like to try to stay together in the different games. If you all want to join me when AC2 comes out let me know then. As you all might not know they use a Monarchy system where people pledge allegiance to others and it sorta forms a tree where you can have many people under you. I would be sworn to my old guildie. Her name is Skystorm.

Lets just wait and see how things shape up here. I know a lot of people including myself are kinda discouraged by Mythic's latest changes but hopefully they will fix things with the next patch.

P.S. By the way the quests in AC where awsome. Some of them could take several hours and many people to complete. But you knew what the reward was and you always got it at the end. Most was not useless junk either hehe :)

Reinn

I am becoming increasingly  discouraged with the state of the game.  Mythic has a hearing problem and every patch increases the difficulty to rvr/xp and have fun.

About all that I can do now is craft and that is a dead ender.  There is no option to solo and rolling a new character and going through the xp grind is not an attractive option for me(especially now that xping is even tougher).

At 50 I still enjoy xping with Vengeance groups as associating with our great folks is reward enough.  Those opportunities are becoming limited as well as many of our members are reaching 50 now.

I have been looking at Star Wars Galaxies very carefully and I feel that I will go that route when available.  I may try to get in the open beta which should be available in the next couple months.  The closed  beta is beginning shortly.

I too feel that an effort should be made to maintain friendships/relationships post DAoC.  I feel DAoC's end time is at hand and I think now is the time to begin planning for the post DAoC.  It looks like this board will be the best way to maintain a thread among our members.

My hope is that we can continue on as a Guild(as much as possible) post DAoC.

While I haven't lost interest in DAOC yet I am sure that if mythic dosen't live up to their promises I too will be leaving. Star wars galaxies does sound interesting and I might go that route depending but I do want to maintain the guild in another game if possible after DAOC has run it's course !

Asherah

I too, would hate to see all my guild mates leave DAoC. I have enjoyed the time spent and the people I have meet. I am looking forward to Star Wars, and it would be great if the same guildie group got together for the new up and coming games. Would be a shame to lose the sense of family we have <sometimes feuding family..but the love is there :) >

Noreen

damn we all leaving already?  dont ya think it might be better to wait for a game thats ... released....and actually better than the one we're all preparing to leave.  Now I agree with you all regarding the balance problems for RvR created in the last patch, however i'm anticipating that this is just mythics way of getting some stuff in and then adding the rest of what should have been a single patch in 2 or 3 more weeks.
I guess my point is that we shouldn't all be jumping ship before there's a new boat to sail away in. (for lack of a better analogy)  I for one dont plan on leaving DAoC like I left Asherons Call before there was an actual replacement.
