Making a new Inf for BG1.  Could use some help in making a template.  Suggestions?

Malison

Make a scout if its just for the BGs.

Otherwise: Train thrust and Crit Strike, auto-train stealth to 20, at which point you dump points into stealth up to about 19 or 20.  Get +stealth and +envenom items.

I'm debating on dropping my infiltrator..they are just too hard to level, even if they do rock at 50.

I wish I could play a hunter instead...500 dmg arrows + insta-cast pet + good melee dmg.  Ugh. guess i'll be happy with my enchanter's I-win button.  which after playing one, affirms my belief that they are overpowered.

If you're just going to the BGs, go slash for all the enemy stealth (esp. SBs).

no more than 2 in DW
weapon to max/max-1, high CS is fun, medium poisons
stealth must be 24 with gear or don't bother playing
as much +hits gear as you can get: recommend a 99% playermade spellcraft suit.

mal, dont forget the hunter's self buffs ;)

Malison

You know, i just looked at their spell list today...

And they have a friggin 1 min self run buff, which basically gives them bard speed.  So assuming I ever COULD run away from the hunters pet (i already used nearsight) the hunter will just run up to me and nail me with the spear. Note: this has in fact happened to me, I just didnt realize why.

I could have sworn only rangers were supposed to have the run speed!

Ispi will forever haunt/hunt me.

At 24 my Inf will be:

18 (+5) stealth, 19 (+5) slash, 21 (+2) CS, 16 (+5) envenom, 1 DW.

Go high envenom and slash early on to make leveling easier w/ autotrained stealth.

DW can be very nice at lower levels as well.  I've made several lowbie infiltrators and the one I leveled the easiest was the one that I had spec'd thrust, env, and dw.  Of course, after I did that I remade another one and pl'd him to 35.

Slash is good in the bgs, but if you want to get him in the 40+ range, you should respec.  Sidenote:  nightshades will hack down a slash spec'd inf without any problem.  You'll be better versus shadowblades though.
