Pain and misery

We're in the car coming home from vacation, enjoying a few minutes of quiet, when out of the blue:

Axelet: Daddy, tell me about the pain and misery of your childhood.
Axe: er... OK (Proceeds to relate a story about the pain and misery of his childhood). Now you tell me a story about the pain and misery of your childhood.
Axelet: Nothing that bad. My childhood's perfect.

I know she's probably working me, but there's also a chance she's got perspective.

hehe.  Somehow this made me think of the old "steak on a shiner" story, that one was funny too.
