Mids took all our keeps about 430a on Saturday, we had very few people around to defend. Most went to strength relic, and our power relic waltzed out and away.
By the time we got organized to repel them, only the Vengeance claimed Renaris was standing. We eliminated the Renaris team and defended there. The day wore on and we moved to retake keeps to get our uberguards back in action.
It was a hardfought battle but we managed to win out and keep our strength relics in the end.
I'm very sad about the state of this game, when the only time things can get accomplished is when everyone else is asleep. It's bad enough when Albs start at 7am est, but when Mids start at 4am est it's ridiculous. I don't blame them, we'll probably do the same thing to get it back in a week or two.
I feel sorry for the poor relicless slobs on hugely populated servers. They will likely NEVER see their relics again.

What we need an application that will call, page, fax, sound the alarm, when our Relics are under attack. So even if it is 3 am those die hards can get online and try to stop the relic force.
You could do this.
Hook up an IM app -- MSN messenger has a simple enough API -- to the herald XML feeds. Any time you lose more than 2 keeps, sound the alarm. Only problem is Herald lag...
There is an application out there that checks the herald XML files and updates the realm list it holds. It usually takes about 15 minutes for it to see a keep taken.
I've never defended a keep in our own frontier. Whenever we go RvRing its in enemy frontiers. Wouldn't it make more sense to scout around our own frontier and not only get mega XP points, but defend our realm as well?
by XP i mean RP's.
I usually do my RvRing in Had's. The only time I've gone to Mid since I started playing again was with the guild rvr thingy.
Thats all great except for one thing , it appears they didn't take any of our keeps to get the relic ! Not that they really needed to since the last time I was up there at the relic keep in snow town there was only like 3 guards and none were the uber ones and to make things worse we had all our keeps at the time so there should have been more guards but there weren't.
I was there, they took 5 of the 7 and hibs took Berk. The Vengeance keep, Renaris, was the only one to survive the attack. In part because we upgraded the doors to 5s the previous night. Nerf Vengeance.

Anyways...I think the paging idea would work if you can get people who are hardcore enough to get out of bed to go and defeat a bunch of 2D people on the other side of the computer.
You'd be hard pressed to get me out of bed at 1 am. I'd rather dream of jeanie than look at your ugly 2d faces. :)

Amber is right, we do need to monitor our frontier. And the fact is, Albion is MUCH better at this than it was a month ago. I think I'd be close to 50 now if I didn't run around it so much. But at 4am, I'm nowhere near Had's Wall or Snowdonia.
Again, I'm not going to call the Mids any names for using this strategy, in fact, I think we should use it ourselves. We HAVE to use it ourselves if we want it back. And it sucks that this is the way it has to be.
I'm not normally up then, either. For no particular reason, I woke up at 430am on Saturday. I figured what the hell, do a little levelling before the day starts. I logged in and about 30s later 3 of our keeps fell. It was eerie.
Almost like you woke up and didn't really, but kept dreaming...How would you know if the dream DAoC was really real?? And if you woke up from that, could you be sure you weren't dreaming for real that time??? Hmm...
I don't dream about DaoC. Come on... it's not like I'm addicted or anything. I can quit any time I want.

We need to get our wives talking, then. My wife hates this game, more specifically, she hates me playing it. I tried the bar and womanizing argument on her, she didn't go for it.
Then she really wouldn't go for you hanging out in a bar with a guy you play the game with, lol...
