Title: What a cabalist can do
Post by: Malison on Jun 12, 2002, 09:23 AM
First off, hey everyone, thanks for letting me into the guild!

I've had a lot of fun since joining, glad to see everyone is pretty willing to group up with each other.

So in my ever-continuing quest for fun in RvR last night, I went out to Hibernia with a bunch of the other Albs.  We did pretty well, wiped out a small horde of mids after we ported in.  I lost my group however, and wandered to the MG to find them.  I noticed a troll standing there on the side of the road, I was just like ?huh?

A minstrel was sitting there with him mezzed, waiting for some help. The troll was a purple con to me.  I sicked my pet on him, dotted him (which criticaled, go Wild Arcana!) and blasted him several times with my  life drains.  he made a feeble attempt at running before my combo attack destroyed him.  I was pretty shocked that I was able to take him down without him sprinting over and wiping me out.

In any case, just goes to show you that a 37 cabalist CAN do some damage, even against 48+ characters.  Too bad the stealthed mids came along about 5 minutes later to avenge their fallen comrade.

See you all in game.

Way to go with the purple kill!!  I love pets in RvR, they are like fire and forget killing machines.  Especially on other casters, hehe.  Sounds like you got a chunk of RPs off that one.  One thing that I've learned by sneaking around solo in RvR is that if you kill, move fast.  The victims buddies are likely en route for a rez, hehe.

nearsight, AE dot are the biggies. AE dot for the keep defense and standoffs, nearsight for pretty much any tiume. Nearsight is incurable :)

My biggest gripe with nearsight is the fact that in keep defense or large scale battles, its virtually useless.  If i can target the enemy, they can target me, and i'd much rather be aoe dotting or aoe diseasing them.

Its really nice though when we are assaulting a keep, or when there is a standoff between a couple of smaller groups.

I'm still waiting on 50 so i can see just how much dmg a full specc'd  aoe dot will do.

The range on nearsight is, IIRC, something like 2400 vs 1500 for a nuke. So you can nearsight someone quite a ways away. Try to use it from the roof of the lord's tower, or in the windows of the tower. Get in the habit of nearsighting dwarves ASAP! Taking a healer out of the battle is huge, because it means they are incapable of mezzing/stunning your group while nearsighted.
