If you are interested in becoming a Vengeance member, you need to have a sponsor. Sponsors must be (with some exceptions) Rank 8 members, meaning they must have been with us at least two weeks.
Sponsoring a person for membership means you are placing your reputation on the line by saying "Yes, this guy's a good fella and he'd do well here." Normally you sponsor someone if:
* You have prior game experience with them, and they're new to DaoC.
* You have adventured in DaoC with them for a period of time and find them to be Our Kind of People
You would not sponsor someone if you just met them in Camelot, if they sent you a tell asking to join the guild, or if you feel sorry for an unguilded person. A reasonable period of time to adventure with someone is probably about a week.
When you sponsor someone for membership, tell me about the person. I will conduct an interview with that person and you in the same chat. I ask slightly different things every time... there are no right answers, but there are plenty of wrong ones. Many times I will decide we need more time to judge a player, and ask them to group with more Vengeance people so we can get to know them better.
When I decide whether to invite or not invite someone, I ask myself an important question:
* If this person were a level 5, would I still want them in my guild?
If the answer to this question is No, I do not invite the player. I have rejected the applications of level 50 players based on this rule. The protection of our Vengeance community is the most important thing to me in recruiting. I will never endanger that in exchange for a stronger RvR team or more effective XP groups.
Many guilds seek to be "uber". Few seek fun as their primary goal. Vengeance wants to be fun first. It is, however, a lot of fun to be uber (from what I hear, I'm not in a position to know firsthand). Those goals aren't counterindicated.
For those folks who wish to join us, the best way to entry is to group with us and get to know our people.
