So far for me, the expansion has been awesome. Totally worth it.
It's all about the content, something this game has been short on for the past year. The new island has tons of new dungeons (5? 6?) and each one is huge. I hung out in Avalon City, a city of undead, last night. Awesome xp, cool mobs that buff and heal, and the skins are cool looking.
The land itself has tons of quests. I think Siphonet said he has 50 quests going at the moment. Lots of new kill tasks. And the land is huge... we found a cliff city with lammia and winged serpents, with merchants and stuff. Siphonet was aggro and I was friendly to them... we ended up dying but it was a great trip.
wow, sounds awesome! I haven't spent much time there since my lvl 5 necro got ganked off her horse by some ogre.

I'm currently downloading my 4th set of drivers for my video card. I'm getting like .000001 fps in the new cities (took me 10 mins to get from the mystic trainer to the portal about 100 feet away) and I have such bad lag running through the new zones I can't even stay af'd for more than 20-30 seconds max.
Got a new video card on my xmas list, but that's still 3 weeks away. My video card isn't top of the line, but there's no way the framerate should be this bad. Hell, I even tried running original DAoC on my sister's 300mHz onboard-everything computer (had like 8 MB video and 4 of that was shared with the motherboard) and I had better performance than I'm getting with SI on my comp.
Kind of frustrating cause the new zones are really cool and I'd like to explore them without getting motion sickness.

whats your system spec's zut? i'm running SI on a p3 800mhz 512 mb 133mhz sdram (cl2) a geforce3 (original release) and a ibm 7200 ultra ata100 hd. i turned shadows completely off and run spell effects on self only most times...and it runs better than it did before (oh resolution 1024x768) zones load faster, less lag when first moving in zones, multiple people on screen less laggy, graphics better....all around i'm very impressed with SI :)

Run the game with everything off, clipping plane set to near and still have problems. The old areas seem to run fine (except when it rains) but the new areas, especially the cities, I have real troubles with.
Edit - run it in 800 x 600 (lowest setting) too

I experianced bad lag with the Beta, I sent an email to Mythic about it. They asked me about my system, so I emailed it to them, and they will get back to me.
I've got Noreen's setup except I have a Geforce 4 Ti4200 video card... things are great except in some SI areas. Camelot and CS are never laggy anymore. Got in some rvr battles (nothing big) but the reduced polygon count for distant people helps tons. Everyone looks like a little grey zombie at range now... lol.

I bought that card back in the summer between my junior and senior year in high school (1999). I got my first "real" job working as an account services rep in some bank and that was my splurge reward for going to work 8 hours a day/5 days a week those 2 1/2 months.
Spent about $300 for it back then; I'm fairly suprised its been this good for so long. It's the oldest thing on my comp at the moment (except for my gimpy 2X CD burner that I never use).
I think it's time to let it go Zut.

hehe, I was thinking the same thing. If he gets a cool gfx card for 2.5 months, I'm gonna go buy myself an internet cafe, or maybe 10% of Microsoft or something.
