Dark Age of Camelot

Version 1.59b Test Release Notes

Tuesday, January 14, 2003

=====================================

NEW THINGS AND BUG FIXES

- We fixed a bug where sometimes, in rare cases, guild would be created using the same guild number. This led to problems where guild messages of the day showed messages from other guilds, mis-assignment of guild emblems, etc.

SPELL NOTES

We've taken a long look at Albion's spellcasting classes with an eye towards making them more functional, as well as more fun to play. These changes are now up for testing, please let us know what you think.

Cleric Changes

- The Smite spec Holy Anger line has had its range increased to 1500 and casting time reduced to 3 seconds.

- The Smite baseline stun (Stunning Flash line) has had its range increased to 1350.

Theurgist Changes

- Theurgist elementals can no longer be rooted or mezzed.

- Theurgist Confusing Gust line has had its radius raised to 350.

- Increased range of Theurgist summons to 2000.

Wizard Changes

- Reduced casting time of Burst of Steam line to 2.5 seconds, which matches the Spiritmaster and Enchanter PBAE cast times.

Friar Changes

- Increased duration of all Friar self buffs to 15 minutes.

Sorcerer/Cabalist Changes

- Increased value on L48 self shield Nullify Offense to 250.

Sorcerer Changes

- Sorcerers can now charm any monster type. This should strengthen their Mind spec considerably, and facilitate better charming in dungeons (where many monsters are undead).

- Added Minion Control to the Sorcerer RA list.

- Increased radius of Fog, Blanket and Cloud of Senility to 350.

- Added a power regen buff to Mind spec list so that all three realms have a version of this spell:

5 Comprehension of Power
15 Perception of Power
26 Perspicuity of Power
36 Cognition of Power
46 Lucidity of Power

- Instead of adding more crowd control to any realm, Sorcerers are getting two new ways of dealing with crowd control.

1) Added a self mez-duration reduction buff to Mind Spec.

16 Shield Mind
27 Harden Mind
35 Steel Mind
45 Invulnerable Mind

2) Added group mez-duration reduction chant to Mind Spec.

29 Solidarity of Mind
39 Unity of Mind
49 Brotherhood of the Mind

General Magic Changes

- Increased duration of all self-only buffs that had 10 minute timers to 15 minutes.

- Fixed a delve bug that affected the "cast time" print. Spells with fractional cast times were truncating the fractional component, so spells with 2.5 second cast times (for example) were listed as 2 seconds. Unless noted elsewhere in the patch notes, no cast times actually changed, they just print correctly now. Please note that spells on the Camelot Herald have always included the fractions of a second; it is only the delve print function that is being updated.

My only beef with it (so far) is this:
The sorc mez reduction gives a 24% bonus to resists....A one minute mez now goes down to about 40 seconds or so.

If i had 26% body, we could get that down to 30 seconds.

I'm sorry, my life expectancy when the group is mezzed is about 6 seconds!  God I hate standing out in a crowd.

But other than that, the changes look good.  Now lets hope they don't just give it to every other realms, as has been there pattern in the past.

Also, I hope they listen to the Theurgists comments, and not the whining other realms who say that an umezzable pet is overpowered.  anyone can outrun them..thats just sad. Hey wait, that sounds just like my pets!

We still have the problem of keeping these folks alive.

Xem and Nocolis, you guys have to love the smite changes, though.

The ice wiz changes are long overdue.

The theurgist changes, I'm not sure if they're enough or not, but this might help the earth theurgist? Lets you contribute from 1700-1800 range from the battle which might help your survivability (although that's out of PBT range). Nari, I'll need a report on my desk by 8am Saturday.

Mind sorc changes might entice a few people out of retirement, who knows? The mana crack is great.

Overall, a good start toward bringing us back from the grave.

the thing about the mez reduction buff that someone (forget who) pointed out ingame earlier today is that its a chant, so if the sorc gets mezzed it drops from the rest of the group, but i guess its better then nothing...other then that i think the changes look great

REAL Theurgist changes:
1.) Increase Mez range to 1500, radius 350
2.) Pets need to pop on the target its summoned on, pets can still be confused and when that happens its game over for any theurgist unless you feel like blowing MoC which few theurgists have anyway. If they don't wanna make them pop on thier targets than they need to increase thier speed, ALOT.
3.) Earth Line, the biggest problem with theurgists that offers nothing but PBT, alittle better damage buffs (they got nerfed anyway) and a lousey attack speed debuff that does nothing but take away 50% of what a haste buff does and the tank will still probally attack as fast as possible.
4.) Ice line. Lousey snares, some lame AoE roots and crappy DD's. I bet most theurg's don't even know they would get a snare if they went ice.

Mythic still has along way to go with theurg's after the crap they pulled with animists.

10 minute buffs changed to 15 minute? That reduces the annoyance factor of Friars in RvR. But still no differentiation between friar spec healing line and cleric spec healing, which is what I consider the final step to "finish" my class.

Amber, what's your current spec? If they give you a respec, what would you go for? Mind might actually be viable.

I read someplace on the dev boards that in the near future sorcs may be able to spend bounty points to add the complementary "I swallow" abilities too.

And don't forget the Albion-only "Bend over and take it" RA, which is free - and manditory - for all classes.

Mind is very viable now. I was checking out the Mage boards and many seem to at least 39 Mind is a good way to go, however with these additions there seems to be many ways to spec. 45 Body, 29 Mind; 37 Body, 39 Mind.

The question is which version of the new abilities you're going to want. One thing they haven't mentioned, which will impact how people spec, is the Spell Level vs. Character Level bug/feature. It seems that the devs are aware of it, just not sure what they are doing about it.

A mez-reduction chant that drops when mezzed would be about as useful as a dmg-add chant that drops in combat.  Surely they wouldn't pull a move that boneheaded.

right now, im 24 body, 8 matter, and 34 mind. I was planning to spend the rest in body, but now because of the patch, i think im gonna go 39 mind, and then put the rest in body

I was extremely dissapointed in this, I cant get a respec for my wizard, dont play when dragon raids are on and they did squat to help fire or earth wizards who were the two who really needed help dramatically. Ice wizards are doing fine in RvR and PvE so they help them out and leave the other two?

As for the sorcerer changes I cant see them stopping people with same range AOE insta mezs and stuns from owning us. We may resist a little more and perhaps have a shorter duration mez. But with the life expectancy of a caster being so short generaly they still gonna be dead before any of those skills can be used. It will help but i cant see it redressing the balance and i think overall the patch was pretty woeful especially from a wizard point of view.

Clerics get a nice boost but then clerics were never doing that bad in RvR anyway.

um..well the ice wiz change is just to bring them on par with the other realms PBAE

and for one thing, if any class/spec gets any love in albion im happy...there it will hopefully help us as a realm overall.

also, they say there not done with the fixes...so hopefully theres more coming for albion (SCOUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

What's better than winning a gold medal in the Special Olympics?

Not being retarded.
