Title: Time to leave daoc
Post by: Mchagen on Jan 23, 2003, 01:54 AM
Title says it all.  I think the change on patch 1.59 was the last punch in the face I could take from mythic.  I'd like to sell my account, but I'll let it die also, no big deal I guess.  If I sell, I'm looking for a reasonable price, ie around 50/60 bucks or I'll just go to ebay and see what happens there.  If anyone wants any info about any of my chars or anything else, post a reply.

50 cleric (full respec/ra respec available), 50 scout, 41 inf, 40 minstrel.

I believe the decision to not implement the cleric changes was not because they'd make the class overpowered, but because it did not achieve the goal mythic has for the performance of the smite line.

If anything, I'd see this as a good sign that mythic is willing to do some drastic changes to the line instead of the band-aid type fixes this last patch brings. Really, how does 250 greater range on stun and decreased casting time on specc'd smites improve the problems of clerics? You still have inferior CC abilities, none of the spells in the smite line can be used in conjunction with your healing/rezzing duties, and you have no ranged instas to use as an escape spell from casters.

It would have been nice if the annoucement had been worded a little better. It does sound at first reading that the changes were removed due to some major imbalance.

Doh! Mythic edited it since I read it earlier this afternoon. It now says:

After looking at all the feedback and talking to various players, we've decided to not include the cleric changes in 1.59. As the changes are, they seem to be somewhat overpowering, so we need to be a little cautious. We appreciate all the help testing this patch. We are still going to look at the clerics, and we're still going to work with our various cleric friends, we're just not sure that this was the best thing we could do.

Ok, I agree with you 100% here Mch. How this overpowers clerics is beyond me. So what if spec smite damage is articifically increased by lowering the casting time. What's the point of having spec DD's if they're the same as the baseline?

Nari, I can talk to either in-game or you can send me an email.  biyt@unm.edu

I'll probably troll the boards like I used to do with our old tig boards, so I'll be around here and there.  I doubt I'll play another mmorg though, they're just too addictive for me.  So you're all not rid of my nagging just yet. :)

Totally understand how you feel. I was really looking foward to having more clerics on the field. The cleric cocktease is BS. Go through the cancellation deal anyway, though, and have the new owner reactivate it.

hey, I want to get into a bidding war w/ Nari regarding that account!

hehe, seriously though, my pal who lent me his account for a while didn't re-up his billing info, and those chars aren't high-level enough for my purposes.

Drop me a line if you want to sell.

p.s.  Nari I'll let you use it too bro.  :-)
