Hey guys. I just picked up a new bike. A 2007 Hayabusa. God I love this bike. I hit 100mph in 2nd gear and it's a 6 gear bike. :D Already had the front wheel off the ground quite a few times.
Product Page. I got the Red one (http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2007models/2007models-Suzuki-HayabusaGSX1300R.htm)
Damn dude. Good luck with that one. I thought you were a cruiser rider? That's a nice bike though. Make sure you get a part time job to pay for the tickets/extra insurance :D
This is a second bike. I still have my cruiser. This is just a toy. And Insurance OMFG. I knew it was going to be bad but damn.
to me, that's the main problem with that kind of bike... they price them low enough so that kids can afford them, but then since a crapload of kids buy them and ride like idiots, the actuarial folks have a field day with them... I'd rather pay twice as much for the bike and half as much for the insurance, to be honest. It does look pretty sweet though :)
I always wanted to learn how to ride.
Hey Ross. Not sure what price you were looking at but it's not a cheap bike. Retails for about 11k. Now granted that cheap compared to some of the touring bikes out there but for a sports bike that's pretty expensive.
But I do agree that I'd rather pay more for the bike and less for insurance.
ASUP: Then do it. No time like the present. I'm not sure about where you live but in Idaho and Washington they have a Motorcycle Safety class. They start from the very beginning and you need no experiance. They provide the bikes and when you are done you will have enough knowledge to get on a bike and ride safely and confidently.
I think they have base classes in Germany even, Asup. Check with the ground safety office/traffic safety office. The only thing that'll get you is the driving test for the German license, but you probably have that already, right? It's not that hard to start riding...I did it a couple years ago and I really enjoy it.

ohh man i could have a field day with this one
you're totally right Tydd, 11k isn't pocket change for most people... but it's cheap enough for loan payments to be in the ballpark that someone working at Taco Bell 15 hours/week could possibly handle if they were living at home and Mommy paid the WoW bill, especially if they live someplace where the riding season is the majority of the year.
yeah, the good thing about paying more for the bike is that in theory you could sell it for more later... sucks when you have something for a few years and then the dealer will give you like 2k for a trade-in... sorta makes you just say "fk that, I'll just keep it as a spare". :P
I would need a state side motorcycle license first. Then I would have to get a bike first before I take the class. In the military the motorcycle safety class is mandatory so that would not be a problem. Going to the states just for a license would be. =P
Not fast enough?

Asup - So when you take some leave, schedule an MSF class wherever you're going to be...you get your training, update your license, and you're good to go for when you go back to Germany. Problem solved.
Oh, and you can hop from Ramstein to Dover no problem on a C-17. There's your air fare to the States. You just have to get to your state on your own...

Yeah. The bike is fast enough. No NOS for Tyddy. But the exhaust on the other hand looks nice. Perhaps a future upgrade.
