After reading this, I think Tydd is trying it because it's his chance to be the coolest guy in the room.
And you thought paladins were gimps.
That's right - FISHING. The most boring "sport" ever created.
Now if he was like in stormtrooper armor or was like killing the fish with his light-saber, that'd be cool - but no; it's just a guy in a flannel hat fishing with a pole off the side of a river. Also, for some reason, this guy feels the need to have his ping/fps display up as well; I guess fishing is quite bandwidth intensive as his ping is whopping 683 and his FPS is only 14 (for you non-geeky folk, that's bad).
For as long as I can remember, every time I visited my grandfather when I was a kid, he would take me fishing. I remember sitting in his 50 year old aluminum boat (all the holes were plugged up with some type of glue gun) and being totally miserable. It was hot, the bait stunk and I never usually caught anything. On those rare occasions where a fish came along that was actually dumb enough to bite the neon green lure, it was kinda fun. I mean, there'd be the thrill of reeling it in, but then that feeling quickly faded when we'd measure it and the fish always came up 1 inch below the legal limit so we'd have to throw it back. Then it'd be several more hours of sitting in the hot sun, waiting for a bigger (and equally dumb) fish to come along that would bite my bait. None ever did, but at least I could look forward to picking up some fried chicken on the way home.
So now I can re-create this experience with SWG (minus the fried chicken). Not only that, I get to pay Sony $15 a month to do it.
I'll tell you what; I'll pay Sony $15 a month if they use that money to send me all the virtual fish I catch. They can print them out on a nice glossy piece of paper I can frame and put above my fireplace. Or, better yet - make a 3D version that sings some bastardized version of "On top of old smokey" whenever you push on his eyeball. Now that'd be worth $15 a month.
Zut, that's a masterpiece. I laughed so loud I woke up my wife (upstairs and on the other side of the house) and got bitched out. I thank you, sir, for adding a bit of mirth to my evening.
LOL!!!
:)
LOL
Great story, Zut.
Hey Axe. I already know I'm the coolest dude in the room.
