Going to Vegas for the week. I'll be back Thursday-ish.
have fun dude, see ya soon!
Just remember to play full odds, every time. :)
Have fun in Sin City. Say hi to my money that took an extended vacation back in April.
lmao,
Remember, you need to put the money on the table before you can /random 100, and the dealer doesn't take kindly to being called a "l3wt wh0r3!"
lol, sod
so fill us in axe!
gluck :)
Apparently, he's a big loser or he'd be bragging about it by now.
When I go on a gambling trip, I split my money up into segments so that if I lose one day, I still have money to play with the next day; and if I win one day, I don't lose all my winnings.
So I had 4 days worth of money to play with between me and Mrs Axe. On day 1 we lost almost all of our day's money right away. On day 2 we went downtown and won a little bit. On day 3 we lost some of our allotment, slowly. On day 4 we went downtown again and doubled our money on craps, then got some more on slots.
In the end we were down about $700 or so, but that includes eating and drinking. Probably our biggest 'losing' trip so far, but we ate and drank about enough to call it an even deal. On previous trips we had won enough to pay for the entire trip and come home even, but you can't count on that.
hehe, not sure why, but "Mrs. Axe" cracked me up. lol, hopefully someday you don't have to refer to her as your "Axe wife"...
That's not too bad for a trip to Vegas, really. It's nice to hear that someone else is nearly as anal about their gambling money as I am. I've been known to separate each day's gambling cash into it's own labeled envelope, and keep gambling money in a different pocket than "spending" money (i.e. food, shows, souvenirs, etc.). If I win a grand on Saturday, it moves to the spending money pocket on Sunday. :)
Lol, ross. 'Axe wife.' Hopefully you meant 'ex-wife' and not 'the wife that tried to take an axe to me.'
And wow, that IS anal!
It's probably a good idea to segregate the eating/drinking/nekkid ladies money from the gambling money. I generally had two pockets of money, the one with all the 100s in it and the one with the taxi money. I think we spent about $300 on taxis that week, we went a lot of places.
What, you didn't walk from place to place? You missed out on being fired like a piece of pottery in a kiln by the Vegas heat, porn leaflets sticking to your exposed skin like a gaily-colored glaze.
he said gaily-colored...
Heh, he said p0rn.
Oh, we walked -- we walked about an hour one day. We went to the Hard Rock Cafe, then walked to a liquor store across the street which turned out to be a convenience store with just beer.
So we walked another block up the street to "Office Liqours" which turned out to be a bar, with a liquor store in the bar. Pretty damn convenient if you ask me. Then we went back outside, but there were no taxis so we just started walking back to the hotel.
My black Doc Martens were like mini foot kilns. We all got blisters and sore feet. We would pass these sun bleached abandoned lots with nothing but cracked earth, and there would be an abandoned row of those machines that give out free escort services brochures. They were everywhere.
We finally made it back to strip-civilization by stumbling into the 123rd National Auditer's Convention. Man -- we nearly dropped dead from boredom just catching pieces of their conversations.
So that adventure was why we took taxis the rest of the time.
At least you had fun ! Personally I guess I am lucky in that I live 4.5 hours away by car so I normally drive there . If I had known a little more in advance I would have drove up there and met you guys for dinner or something but I am planning to go up there at the end of July anyway with a friend . I have a similar method of keeping my gambling money seperate from my spending money cept I bring cash for gambling and use my atm for everything else and when I run out of cash I am done gambling and just eat, drink and tour the rest of the time. Did you happen to go in the Motown cafe for lunch or anything (at New York , New York) pretty cool show, or have dinner at the Excaliber downstairs at the arena ?
Motown cafe got replaced by ESPNZone a little while back.
My wife was bummed because she liked it. Myself (being a sports geek as well as a computer geek), I liked it.
We usually see a show, but this time we didn't. We were too busy seeing all the free stuff. I went to the jousting show last time. It was worth it to see it once, but I don't think I'd go back for another. I don't think I ever got to the Motown cafe.
One night the women went to bed and my friend and I (I had a buddy who relocated to UNLV for his Masters program) just chilled in the Luxor's lounge drinking beer and listening to the live sets til about 3am (6am Axetime). Was a good time.
I've stayed in the Excalibur once and the Luxor twice. Must say the Luxor is probably my favorite place to stay of all the casinos.
I don't mind Luxor, but I think my favorite so far is Mandalay Bay. I personally also liked the Venetian, but my better half didn't think the rooms were worth the money (but go figure, she really liked the shopping and restaurants). Aside from maybe the Hard Rock (swim-up blackjack has its advantages), Mandalay Bay has the best pool on the strip, especially since they have concerts out there. It has a massive wave pool w/ a sand beach, one of those lazy river things, and it's laid out so that you don't feel like you're just in a sea of lounge chairs. I think Caesars Palace gets an honorable mention because they have a European-style (i.e. topless babes) pool area, but you have to be careful with that because sometimes you get European-style grandmothers, and that's not usually a pretty sight.
