It seems the reports of the cyclops' eye being a small shield were incorrect. This site (http://www.visionofsages.net/toa/Artifacts.shtml#cyclops) is reporting it as a medium shield.
I could swear it delves as a small but I may be mistaken. I had been drinking that night as anybody who was in my group should've been aware due to my pulling technique on teh cyclops ramp.
VN Boards (http://vnboards.ign.com/message.asp?topic=59386066&replies=25) users are saying it picks the shield size when it is activated. The description suggests any shield-using class with Guard should be able to activate and use it. (Post has link to pic, pretty neat looking.)
Need Damyon's Scrolls to activate. I'd like to get one for myself and I know Duran was interested in one also.

Well I recently activated cyclops eye. And I got it in medium for nyd. I just roamed soloing Cyclops Agnomons for 1 of 3 Hoiples gave 2 of 3 on first kill. And cyclops Aspostates gave 3 of 3. It took a lot of patients and farming but it drops someday :D
WTf!? i farmed those for 2 hours with nari the other day and we got only 1 scroll :(
well anyways gratz on the activation :), we barely pulled off the cyclops fight with only like 5 of us to get you that
