So who wants to take a night this week and play UT2004 demo? Would be a fun switch IMO. They have integrated voicechat... challenge would just be finding a server we can all connect to and have decent ping on.
Can get demo at http://www.unrealtournament.com
Been playing for the last couple hours, very fun and really easy to learn if you're familiar with most FPS games.
I'm in for either Wednesday or Thursday night.
could be in for wed.
Will we see the return of the people'sDBA???
Please????
I'll try and download the demo tonight.
I know dick-all about finding a server that's going to be good, who wants to take that action item? Hehe, I used the phrase "action item" in a sentence.
this week is bad for me, i have no time to do anything:: next week though, if you guys wanna play unreal or CS or DoD or something, that would be wicked chill
We played last night after the alb zerg failed to satisfy. Need to get voicecomm up and running so we get some teamwork going. We had a few situations where we had cover fire and supporting fire and stuff but not always.
that was a lot of fun, we gotta do it more often
people'sDBA?
sounds wicked fun, is this just a one-week deal or will you guys be doing this next week?
i got the sudden urge to play Tribes now, whos with me?
I figured out last night that you can host a listen server and actually play on it. So we don't need a person with a 2nd comp to run a dedicated server for us.
You see a preformance hit when playing/hosting?
PeoplesDBA was Axe's CS handle when we all used to play after work. I was Soylend, Sidd was Sidd, Zaius was Zaius...
Anybody remember what Mylar's handle was? What's he up to these days?
I think we'll be playing this whenever someone motivates us to do so.
Back when we all worked together we would sometimes do counterstrike sessions at work. They would last long into the night, then we'd go drive to the rib joint and feast on cow flesh. It was good times.
To amuse ourselves at work we would dream up ever more elaborate outlook signatures. One of mine was "The Peoples' DBA" because I always championed the needs of the developers against the evil corporate interests. If a developer needed database stuff done it would happen in minutes or hours instead of days or weeks.
I used this moniker for my counterstrike session and became a vengeful force of good, champion of the oppressed developer class. The struggle was long and hard and in the end the company ran out of money and got sold to some spam provider, and all our options went underwater forever.
I doubt there would be much of a performance hit with only 4 or 5 of us connected to it. We should get someone with a good comp to host it though (like axe).
I've only got a lame 144k DSL connection. But I can give it a shot.
hey this sounds awesome, id be in for playing tomorrow night, i finally have some time off
i'd be willing to try hosting - got a crappy cable modem connection and a gig of ram (not sure if that makes any difference but whateva)
omfg how do you change the controls to this game????
144k DSL ?? crappy video card...old computer...NO TOA FOR KIDS...not on the alliance boards?
GD Axe get with it.
lol, sidd.
All of my shortcomings summarized in three seconds... I'm gonna start calling you Mrs Axe.
LMAO!
lol!!
hehe, mad wife skillz
so what happend last night axe?
I logged on around 830 and nobody was around, so I went to play lineage 2.
no way... I was running around the alb frontier from 7-8pm CST last night and you were never on. If you were, you never said anything.
I know you got a new game to play, but if you ever wanna play some UT find us on AIM; sitting in DAoC waiting for people to log on sucks.
Axe logged like 5 minutes before at least 3 or 4 people got into DAoC.
That little UT2004 tryout I had last night was fun, but god do I suck. Of course, having some clue of the goals of the type of game would probably have helped a little, hehe. I'll have to set myself up a private game just to get to know the maps and practice using the vehicles and stuff.
Hey, once you start constructing one of those power station things, do you have to keep standing in the circle until it's done?
No, but you can use the alt fire on your link gun to make it construct faster. If someone else is charging it with their gun, you can use your gun on them to boost the strength of their beam.
I was wondering how we lost that last game so fast the other night.
L2 seems a little too hard-core (read: tons of repetitive mind-numbing stuff) for me anyways. If I have gametime tonight I'll check in and see if we can get something going.
Last night we determined that the demo Onslaught map has too many control points for a 4-man game. Once you start losing/winning control points its really hard to break that momentum.
After Ross logged the three of us tryed out some deathmatch. Zut's rockets owned my bones.
no gaming for me tonight, but I'd definitely try that out again.
You guys need to let me know when you're doing the UT2k4 thing.
Yes, and please post the name of the server. :) I downloaded it when I heard someone was starting one up, but heck if I could find it once I got the game installed. :(
zutt's been hosting the server the last couple nights we've played...its called "vengeance server", you have to make sure your looking for the right game type though or you wont see it - we've been doing deathmatch mostly.
Ok - i got it downloaded - guess I'll see you guys on sometime this weekend.
Do i need to get any maps?
No, the demo has like a half dozen maps/missions for us, and demo plays just those, I think.
