Vengeance

I've decided to load DAoC up and give it another try.  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone,  I hear some of the old gang is still around.

I'm hoping Axe will allow me back in Vengeance :P

I think Marm was around level 45.  I was told the Cabalist have went threw some huge changes.  I'd like to respec Marm but I'm unsure what I should take.  If anyone could steer me in the correct direction I'd be grateful.

I'm working on Sieran,  I may be able to get him to start playing also.

They really buffed up the spirit line, so most of Cabalist templates no longer split matter/body, but instead pair spirit with a damage-dealing line.

Dargoh can give you the lowdown on Matter, I'm currently playing Zaius and he's specced:

46 Spirit
28 Body

Use the Body Resist debuff you get at 46 Spirit, then hit them with the lvl 50 base-line Lifetap. You'll hit for 538 damage each time (capped). The problem with this is that mana consumption very inefficient on the baseline lifetap. But your pet is pretty uber, which makes up for it in PvE. In RvR you'll need some way to increase your mana recharge rate, whether it be RA's, items/potions, or a friendly Sorc or Minstrel.

And you have to do it at a trainer. Easiest trainers to get to are in Gothwaite Harbor. Do you have SI and ToA expansions? And you will want the housing expansion too, you can d/l that one.

I dont have SI or ToA yet.  I'll look for it today at EB.  I'll prob have a hard time finding it.

Anyway I talked Sieran into playing also but he's having a problem with his 9800 pro,  the game looks like he's playing with all his settings on low and when he tries to change it in the options panel nothing but screen rez is there.  /shrug

oh one question,  lifetap=Lifedrain ?  I was way off on my lvl  I'm only 34.  when I respec which should raise higher?

I think you get a full respec at 20 and 40. You need to use it within one level (since you've been away so long you can use it now or at 35, but not at 36). The one you get at 40 you can use at 40 or 41, but if not you lose it forever. I think that's how it works.

So decide if you want to go spirit or matter (I think spirit is a little easier to solo xp with, your pet kicks ass, matter gets the focus shield but kinda need buffbots to do that) then spec that line. You don't want to diversify, need to spec fully.

Except you will want 3 spirit if you go matter, so you can cast the pet recycle. This is how you recover mana quickly.

You can buy the Gold edition of Daoc which I believe includes SI, for like $20 or so. ToA is probably like $30, I dunno. You can get by on just SI for now.

Sieran's problem is probably directx or vid drivers... also the SI engine is a lot better than classic. I try to play on SI engine if I have a choice.

Lifetap is a lifedrain, yeah -- basically a nuke that gives you a heal in return.

Unless they changed the respec rules, I think you have to use it before you get any kind of level.  If this is true, that means that you'd have to use your lvl 20 respec before you ding again (if you were still playing when they granted respecs and you got a couple of levels, you're S.O.L.).  Once you hit 40, I think you have to use it prior to getting the 40.5 mini.  You might still have a full respec either way if the char was in existence when the program started, and I don't think there was a time restriction on when that could be used.

I think I'll go with the 46 Spirit 28 body.  At my lvl what would you suggest I should start with?

Just go full spirit until you hit 40, then put the halvesies in body.

I'll get you hooked up with some armor and some $ tonight when I play, should be on around 8:30 est. Til then try to hit up dargoh, he's usually an easy mark for free lewtz.
