I tried to take a tower solo but I ran around on the map where the tower was supposed to be and couldn't find it for the life of me so I gave up.
It seems like you have to take all the towers before you can even hope to scratch the keep; and then if it's defended you're still in trouble. We'll see how it goes.
Static tempest was fun getting hit with even :-) the graphics are really cool. The siege weapons are amazing, the battle sounds have a great feel to them. I was still killing people last night, so my worrying about resists was maybe off base. We'll see.
TS was nice to have. The first time I saw a little luri run across my path it scared the crap out of me. Thing is, I wasn't about to attack him. 800 is really nothing for range. Even 1000 wouldn't be enough I don't think.
Still not sure what RAs to get. IP is starting to look attractive, because the lvl of PD I'm willing to invest in doesn't do anything against assasins - my nemesis, so maybe I'll go Purge, IP, TrueSight, LongShot, Tireless, but that leaves out aug dex and FE. Nice to have and I wish I could have them. BTW - do you think I could get by without purge? Do we still have group purge?
Seems like I need to spend more time on Pen figuring out my new playstyle. TS has fundamentally altered the archer's world; I just don't know how yet.
I'm surprised Ross hasn't chimed in with his favorite explorer comment. =)
haha! Nice going, MAGELLAN!!!1! rofl, looks like they finally put stealth towers into the game. Either that, or suddenly the "it was raining so we got lost on the way to Renaris from Sauvage" excuse suddenly sounds a little more reasonable. :P
"doesn't do anything against assasins - my nemesis"
I'll beat this dead horse one more time. Now that archers can see assassins with a *passive* ability, and assassins don't have see hidden anymore, I'm thinking that not only will assassins not be the bane of archers anymore, it'll actually swing back to being like it was at the beginning of the game where archers were the kings of RvR. I'm basing this on the thought process of you being stealthed, you can see other stealthers at range, nobody can see you (with the possible exception of other archers), and you can choose 99% of your battles. This goes double for the other realms' archers who have more innate ability to get away after popping stealth. I'd have less problem with passive truesight if they would leave SH in the game. I think there would be some level of balance to that. As it is, assassins will need a TS bot to go along w/ their buffbots. :)
Actually, I don't think archers can see you at range; I thought the range got nerfed to 800.
What's that, like half of bow range? I bet I could get hit by three arrows before I closed that distance.
I dueled with an inf last night and since Pen is bugged I had the 800 range even with TS 2. The only way I could beat her is if purge was down. I could only get 2 rapid fire shots in also after the first one. If she hadn't been moving and I got a crit, it may have been a different story. Assasins will learn not to stand around (as archers have had to learn).
Mano a mano the fight has evened out a bit. It isn't an I win ability by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe it is for hunters and rangers, I don't know. BTW, Vanish allows you to get right up to that TS archer and perf.
In addition, most archers are going to get TS 2. 450 is really just so I can avoid assasins. It isn't even close to an offensive ability.
Lets check it out on Pen. this weekend, and I'll show you that it really isn't that bad. Especially if you group with me :-)
Good news - Vanish 1, while not providing a speed spell, does not slow you down either. You are not moving at normal STEALTH speed during the 5 seconds, but at normal RUNNING speed. Which means you can run 1000 units before it expires and drops you to the normal(slow) stealth.
So if an archer pops you with TS, hit vanish and charge. Dead archer. Not sure what the problem is.
scouts...not so much
I had two Vanish experiences today. First was, I try to perf a SM and miss it, hit the SM, SM burns MOC. I vanish and haul out of there, get away clean. That's worth it.
Second time on the walls of some huge keep (bledmeer level 10ish I guess), on the second tier. I had come in through a window so I figure I can get back out again. Kill this guy then the guards start lighting me up. I vanish, guards hit me and stealth breaks. It's supposed to be unbreakable stealth for 5 seconds. That sux0rs.
TS isn't the assasin problem. The assasin problem...and I would be seriously PISSED...is the fact that assasins don't really have a role in keep takes now. And that is BS. Not sure how to fix it.
Personally I think they should make vanish usable for offense. And they definately need to fix the bug Axe found...that is BS. The NPC's are too powerful imho.
was so cool now i realy want to lvl Danax
