I was up until 7am working last night. Got two hours sleep, woke up again because server's not doing well. In a flash of brilliance I identify three key factors causing the problem (I felt like someone else was talking when I was on the phone, and I'm thinking at the same time, damn that's a good idea).
I implement it over the cautious probes of "Should we bounce this idea off the vendor first?" (Me: "No.") and things start working again. Told my boss I'm taking the rest of the day off.
Can't sleep, so I connect to Pendragon and get the prepatch material downloaded to my ToA directory. At 2:00 the servers come up, takes a few tries to get connected, but I do get there eventually. Getting about 2k/s now, lol. Don't you daoc people have jobs? Get back to work and let me play.
I'm only getting like 2 or 3 files at a time before getting booted. This sucks
took me an hour to get all the patch files...2 or 3 at a time.

Ditto, not having much luck with the patcher. I made it as far as 45% on my best attempt so far. Servers will be down from 4pm-6pm EST for patching in any case, according to the Herald (http://www.camelotherald.com/more/1550.shtml).
yeah, i'm pretty well resigned to just avoiding DAoC tonight and getting in on the craziness tomorrow. Aside from that, I have a ballgame at 9:30 and it's my wife's birthday, hehe, so it'd be a dicey proposition anyway.
Use Pendragon to patch (run camtest from your regular directory). When that's complete run the regular one and you'll get a few more files.
Okay, all patched up. I'll try and do it again after 6-7pm, see if there were any changes.
i keep getting the message that it's updating, i thought they left the patcher up?
That's what I'm getting now too, must have turned it off.
Looks like we're back up - I was just able to log in.
I had to order the CD. No way I can get this download on a dialup--mayber over the course of two weeks...
The download is big but the patch isn't so bad.
Now server stability... that's another matter entirely, lol. I was dropped twice and now can't get back in, Cao went LD at least 3x already.
We had a nice skirmish going in mid too, darn.
