" As most players of Dark Age of Camelot know, there is currently a disparate number of classes in the three Realms. The reasons for this go back into the shadows of Camelot's early design days, and even though it seems strange now, at the time we thought it was the right thing to do.
Now we are in a situation where Albion on almost all servers has a distinct advantage in simple terms of number of people playing characters in it. We've come up with some ways to alleviate this over the last few months, and today I'm going to tell you about another: in the upcoming Catacombs expansion, Albion will receive fewer new classes than the other Realms. In our current plan, Albion will receive one new class, Hibernia and Midgard will get two new classes each.
There are two reasons for doing this: the first is is to make up for the fact that Albion has one more class than Hibernia and two more than Midgard. Another reason is to motivate people to start new characters in Realms other than Albion to smooth out the population imbalances a little.
We'll start to release more specific information about the new classes in a few weeks, and of course we'll continue to look at population numbers and tester feedback about these plans and make changes where appropriate. "
This really sucks in my oppinion, im not sure that having more classes is a cause of albion's over population. on some servers (like ours) i dont think there is even a population issue, and this just screws us out of having a new class to try.

In my opinion, the population imbalances have more to do with the game not being called "Viking Invasion" or "Celts Gone Wild". When people buy a game with "Camelot" in the name, it's a safe bet that the majority are probably somewhat interested in things like knights and anything else normally associated with Arthurian legend. I haven't read Le Morte D'Arthur in a while, but I'm pretty sure there weren't trolls or lurikeens in that one. It has always seemed to me that a casual player will probably make an Albion toon right after they buy the game, while a power gamer who does some research might see greater pwnage potential in Midgard. Once you've invested time in a character, it's understandable why (the casual player especially) someone wouldn't want to abandon that character and re-roll in a different realm. I think much of what we're experiencing today is simply larger numbers of players in Albion who now have 2+ years of experience playing their toons, so they don't suck. Of course, these are all gross generalizations, but that's my opinion of why things are the way they are.
OTOH I could care less about new classes. I will have to get through all the BS buggy content with 5 level 50's so I can rvr with em.
So what will the new type be? I'm guessing a melee/range hybrid, like a crossbow specialist using fighter tables (unlike scouts or other hybrids, which are on the rogue tables). Either that, or a melee caster - buffs and non-interruptable spells on timers.
edit - armsman can spec in crossbow already sod

Even with the other realms getting 2 extra classes vice albs lowly 1, I still prefer the Albion toons and landscaping. I don't think a new class will make anyone switch realms completely, not if they've been playing Alb for awhile.
Just my humble opinion.
edit: can we change my title plzz? =P
