I'd cut anyone slack in Mithra, but I really get a kick out of people who are level 50 w/ a fair amount of RP's and they couldn't find, for instance, Caer Renaris in Old Frontiers.  That's just sad.  Or when you have to explain the difference between Guard and Protect to a level 50 shield tank.

I know what you mean Ross.  The third time I had to explain that to you I was about to take your shield to your head.

n00b!

hehe, seriously, guard is something that works vs. both other players and PvE mobs.  You have to stand near your target, but if you are near him/her and you have your shield equipped, you have a good chance to block melee/archer attacks against that person.  Guard is used many ways.  Sometimes it's used to protect a caster (maybe your healer or your PBAoE nuker), other times it's used to protect a two-hand damage dealing tank.  Or people can guard each other.  The only real caveats to guard are that you must stay relatively close to the person in order for it to work, and it doesn't work against magical attacks.

Protect, on the other hand, is only useful in PvE.  It basically help to keep aggro off of your target.  Typical targets for protect are the primary healer or primary nuker, people who can rapidly gain aggro and have a difficult time losing it themselves (i.e. they don't have a detaunt style available).

thanks.
Now all they need to do is implement this in WoW and it'll matter.

Though I hate the typical emain pk camper, you also have to cut slack for those later characters who could not participate in RVR until lvl 50. Most of us played in the days where you didn't have to be lvl 50 and have uber ToA gear to have some sort of chance in RvR combat. Shit, remember when I mezzed that lvl 48 mid at lvl 17?

No I was there, it was awesome. We couldn't believe it either.

I remember taking my 35 infiltrator out with Gueuze and killing tons of people. How depressing it was that my 35 infiltrator outdamaged my 50 paladin.
