So what's everyone playng these days? Shanghi and I are still playing UO a bit. I still have my eye on Darkfall. Currently downloading a Fallout3 torrent.
I'm also playing some Overlord on PS3. It's kind of a puzzle-esque strategy game where you have an army of four different kind of minions, and you have to progress through levels where you direct your minions to do stuff. The objective is to be evil and build up your evil empire, harvest souls from your loyal peasants, etc. Pretty fun.
And I'm also playing Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility. They're surprisingly engaging games with a lot of open-ended room to play however you want.
Wow! It's just like being GM of Vengeance!
Fallout has been a blast so far. I'm still doing the quests around Megaton. Great graphics, sound, music and storyline. I like the blend of FPS and RPG and how open-ended it is. Similar to other Bethesda games like Oblivion and Morrowind, you can go anywhere and explore or do the main questline. I've been playing it a bit neutral so far; haven't murdered anyone but I've taken some minor karma hits for stealing, etc. Definately has a lot of replay potential.
lol, yeah, except the peasants aren't as lippy.
The Megaton "jumping off" quests where the chick sends you around the world on missions are really fun, but if you want to get the best reward at the end you need to be careful on some of them to complete all the "bonus" pieces. I tended to meander through them and let myself get distracted a lot (which was fun). Consequently I didn't finish that quest chain up until about 3/4 of the way through.
There's a bug where the maintenance guy randomly falls through the world and dies from time to time, so you can't turn in any scrap metal for $ or karma - there's a console command to reset him you can google.
If you haven't already, save the town from the bomb (or alternately, blow up the bomb and kill everybody) and you get your own apartment. It's a good home base to store all your pack rat crap, extra weapons for repairs, etc.
I liked doing the high small guns/repair skills, using the hunting or sniper rifle from range and then switching to the shotgun when things got up close, or in constricted quarters. High sneak is fun too but very different style. I tried a melee style and big guns style and didn't like those quite as much.
