So I'm on a conferance call and this guy is going over a very boring document and I say to my cube mate "I'm tired" Then the presenter says "You're Tired?" ooops. Tydd forgot to put himself on mute.
Of course the group didn't just move on. They made fun for about 1 minute before we got back on track. sigh.
And did you know that the color of your desktop can stop an HP software install. :D I was troubleshooting a customer over the phone and I couldn't figure out the issue so I ask for help from some one. They ask me questions and I repeat the question and repeat the answer back. So I'm in this repeat mode and the guy helping me says "What color is her desktop?" and without thinking I ask the customer "What color is your desktop?" as soon as I ask it I realize what he did and he start laughing hard. The customer answered me thou and I was able to play it off.
So if you are having issues installing software ask yourself is my desktop color a supported color?

A friend of mine set up her own little consulting firm helping people out with pc stuff--mainly installing software and getting windows to work right--and she once had a client call and complain that his screen saver wouldn't kick in. After about 30 minutes on the phone troubleshooting, she says, wait. . . are you on your boat? and he was like, yeah, why? and she was like, flip the mouse over, you fool--the boat rocking in the water is making the mouse slide around.
i thought that was pretty sharp on her part.
or you could put tape over the ball underneath so the movement isn't detected. One of my favorites for in-the-office laughs :P
we had someone clip the wheels inside a mouse w/ wire cutters so that when the mouse was moved it would basically just be jerky motions. It was pretty funny.
We've had people take apart the mouse and put pennies in it so I rattles.
We've also have people take the ball out and hide it.
I've done that, Legs! April Fools is coming up. =)
You can also pull the plug out of the back of the computer just a little so it doesn't make good contact with the port. Hours of amusement!
