Yeah. I'm currious how they plan on making money. Giving the client away and no montly charge? Where is the profit?
they probably haven't told the existing playerbase that it's free, hehe

i know Anarchy Online lets you play free...im pretty sure they use in-game advertising as a major income source.
edit - that would piss the hell out of me though:
- "hey, anyone mind telling me how to get to the dungeon?"
- "sure...head north all the way past Pepsiville...when you see the Marlboro billboard start heading east untill you come to the second budweiser frog. you should see the dungeon from there."

According to my in-depth, 30 seconds of research, it appears shadowbane has been having billing issues for awhile now. They probably just decided to give up fixing the problem and hand out a freebie until the game shuts down in the near future.
looks like Zut was correct. Wolfpack Studios, the developer of Shadowbane, is closing its doors may 15th...
