Dark and light has been an unequivocal train wreck, and while I don't think any of us have experienced it first hand, I thought you might want to check out this demo version of the game's engine.
As for me, my cobbled-together wreck of a machine died again last night. I might try getting a new hard drive and seeing if that holds me over for a little while longer til I can get a new machine.

The Ganareth Tour* will give newcomers to the world of Ganareth a taste of many of the worlds most addictive elements. It can be downloaded at no cost from http://www.darkandlight.com/download.
Farlans interactive engine trial Ganareth Tour, is a small, standalone application that accurately portrays many of the experiences players can encounter as Ganareth engine discoverers. Users can roam various Ganareth landscapes including a desert, jungle, mountainous region and rolling countryside; try out Ganareth world sports such as snowboarding, gliding and free diving; sample means of transportation; and discover creatures and characters from these wild grounds.
noob, fix that period at the end of your link.

Fixed! Anybody try it?
I downloaded the downloader but got an error when I tried to run it so it never did the download. Piece of crap.
As a frequent consumer of MMORPG's, I wish nothing but failure upon DnL and all the companies associated with it.
lol, wow, nothing but love for those folks, eh Zut?
They are providing the MMORPG community hours of entertainment at zero cost through their dependably lame execution. We need somebody to point and laugh at.
if anyone's into WW2 RTS games, have you tried out Company of Heroes? pretty kickass IMHO... you still need resources to build units/base buildings/whatever, but instead of having some peon go and chop lumber, you gain various resources by holding certain control points. Plus, it's squad-level combat (although you can see individuals fighting and dying, and the graphics are really pretty good). One of the more entertaining aspects is the physics engine and the pretty much completely destructable environment. Sniper in a building? don't worry about shooting him, just take down the building and everyone in it dies. With the physics engine, any big explosion launches pieces and parts in the direction away from the blast (including previously dead people sometimes, lol, along w/ their guns and whatever else is laying around).
I haven't played online yet, but you can either play on servers that are available (I believe there's a ladder as well for the e-peen types) or you can arrange your own private contests over IP.
