persoinally the thing i like the most is the idea of inter-realm grouping/guilding. dunno...i just think it would be mad cool
how about you guys?
If you've ever played a scout, I know you've tried this trick: Climb to the top of a tower or landmark and try to pull a mob. You're bound to be dissappointed, for one of two reasons:
1) Mobs don't travel withing bow range of towers, or
2) If you manage to pull one, they can teleport/jump over in obstacle in their path to get to you.
PCs often have to travel to towers to visit merchants and complete quests. And PCs can't warp on top of / through obstacles.
Anyone want to form an all-scout guild on the PvP server? ;)
Not my cup of tea. And the only class that I think I would enjoy to play, AND feel would be effective, is a minstrel...which seems a bit redundant.
This is my first MMORPG, but I did do a lot of Diablo, so I picture this scenario: you get a tell, "Hey, want to group?" So you say sure, and get, "Meet me at CU." And you go to CU and get killed by the group he had waiting for you. Only one of those will be enough to send me back home to Iseult.
Imagine all the horse routes camped by sniper teams on top of the towers. They'd sit up there and "xp" all day by shooting people off their horses. Ugh!
I think its a great idea, but i also think Darith said it very well when he said: Ill play the Pvp server when i get bored of Daoc.. Because the Pvp server is just that, a whole new different game..
If we do decide to sart up, lets move en masse, its much easier to defend yourselves when your 5 on 1 hehe.
I wouldn't want to wear a robe on the PvP server, for sure.
1) Stealther
2) Skald
3) Thane
and perhaps a 4th
4) Smite cleric
It will be interesting to see the class distribution on this server.
3 tanks, 2 healers, a speeder, an assassin, and a crowd controller type?
It will be interesting to hear the stories from there. Still no interest in going however.
The ideal team will feel pretty badass until the l33t shadowblade guild comes and griefs the whole team. Can you imagine 8 SBs running around looking for targets?
I agree with Darith's comment... totally different game. I think if you don't get there day one and level like a maniac, establishing level dominance early, you're going to have a tough time surviving.
Remember, since you lose xp if you die, the level differences will separate early. A level 20 kills a level 15, the 15 stays 15 and the 20 goes to 21. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. The 15 is 15 and the 20 is now 30, and there's no chance to fix it.
The only saving grace will be the establishment of larger guilds. You can't kill your own guildmembers. So it might be more like the old UO PK/anti wars, which I understand were pretty cool.
