Title: Respec!

Per Camelot Herald, characters get a free respec at 25th and 40th level. You are allowed to reduce your spec in one line to 0 and respend all of those points.

Big axe is reducing slash to 0 and spending those points in either crush or thrust; I am debating whether I should redistribute my parry points or my 2h points into shield.

I have two paths I can go: 2h thrust or crush/shield. I am probably going to go crush/shield. How about the rest of you?

holy crap no ways.. thats insane!! damn im really glad to hear that they're doing a respec.. im thinking bout going thrusting too.. in fact im almost 100% sur about the idea.. Lol axe, i really dont think you should go 2 handed, pallies dont have enough points for that sorta stuff anyways ;(, but anyways.. i hear that the extra dmg is nice in rvr.. if you go 2h thrust i have the COOLEST weapon in the bank for you..
anyways.. im thinking of going 1h thrust to kill all those stealthers.. otherwise i dont think ill change too much bout Kirin..

I thought all the stealthers wore Leather isn't Slashing best against leather??

Also Shield and Parry seem best suited for PvE since they can not block any style moves. Since RvR is mostly Style moves until everyone is dead the only thing you get is a chance to block is arrows.

Just curious,

With the new rp skills, stealth is not worth the spec points any more.  Think I am gonna go with 50 bow, 42 shield(slam), and 37 thrust with left overs in stealth(about lev 10-maybe higher w/auto spec).  That should surprise a few shadowblades!

Yeah slash (amethyst) is more effective against stealthers but thrust is 50% dex driven so makes sense for a scout.  Since thrust is 50% dex and 50% strength it may not make sense for a tank.  Slash is 100% strength driven I believe.  Depends,  if your (dex +str)/2 is greater than your str.  then thrust may be the way to go but for a tank slash(str driven) is the most effective means to take a shadow down especially with the amethyst style and even better if ya have lev 42 shield and slam.  Combine that with ignore pain(insta heal) and you will be working with double the HP's too.

After doing some thinking about it, I've decided to go 1h crush/shield. I considered thrust for all the chain classes I end up going against, but when I thought more about it, I realized that with the crap damage I do, weapon spec is really the least of my worries.

I don't have the option to reduce my parry spec, so I'm going to take slash and 2h down to 0 and respend so I'm specced thusly at 46:

crush 21
chant 46
shield 42
parry 18

And thusly at 50:

crush 39
chant 46
shield 43
parry 18

I don't get the last AF chant, but the second best is adding 160AF right now, and 50 paladins on the IGN boards are reporting their AF capped at 881 from 670 with the last AF chant... so the second best should cover me. Plus I like to have the parry reactionary style.

Yeah, I think Gueuze is going to take points out of thrust and respec slash.  Thrust stinks against leather, and I'm not meleeing many chain wearers.  The other big advantage is that I only need ONE weapon style hotkey once I get slash to 29, leaving more room for instruments and spells.  Hotbar switching is a pain in the (insert body part here).  I miss Brian's 3 bars:  1H solo, 1H with group, and polearm.  No switching required.

I may or may not take points out of stealth for slash based on the realm skill stuff, we'll see how all that works out.  Not like I have a lot of points in there right now anyway.

Doesn't affect my instruments plan at all.  44 and out.

Another effect:  you just THINK you saw a lot of smite clerics before.  Any high level rejuv ones...probably won't be anymore.

Axe mentioned that the heal chant might swing things to Alb's favor...more smite clerics might add to that as well.  Or, it might make it even harder to find one for grinding, and keep us all in our 40's, thereby gimping us...

did you folks see the note today about being able to select a "backup" style during attacks?  It went something like this:  You select KickAssStyle1 that requires some opening event (evade, parry, etc.) even though  you know it probably won't happen for this swing.  Immediately after you do that, you hit the key for KickAnkleStyle2 that kinda sux, but requires no opening.  If #1 can't happen, the game automatically subs in #2 for you.  Of course, you have to keep hitting that key sequence each time you'd like to do this, but it's a pretty cool idea IMHO.

Also, I guess you'll be able to cancel a style by hitting its hotkey again before it goes off.
